If you could change one rule in one of the three major sports, what would it be?

Ok: I'll edit. I think the foul out rule in basketball should be examined. Maybe adding an extra foul allowed for players or for OT purposes.

So you think players should be allowed to foul at will?

So you can't just foul every time on defense with no consequence?

Do you really think it would impact the game that much? It is still not in your interest to foul.

At the minimum, I would like to see it go from five to six in NCAA and six to seven in the NBA.

That's stupid. The fouls would have no effect on the game otherwise.

Seriously think about this for 5 seconds and realize how silly this statement is.

I like the foul out rule

If you didn't have it you could just have a henchman in there that could foul your poor freethrow shooting big men every time they get the ball.

It would really slow down the games too IMO

Football teams can commit penalties all game long. You penalize them and reward the opponent with FTs.

Fouling on high percentage shots doesn't benefit the offense

A guaranteed 2 points is better than 2 free throws 100% of the time. This much is obvious.

Yeah, I agree with this.

So the strategy would be to foul on every high percentage shot

The numbers favor the defense in that scenario

NBA - Charging: I think it's dumb that as long as a defender "beats" a guy to the lane and plants his feet it's an offensive foul. I've seen multiple instances where a guy is taking off from just outside the paint on a lay-up, and because the defender "beat" him to the spot and is outside of the restricted area, he gets the favorable call. What exactly is the offensive player supposed to do? Shapeshift out of the way? He's in mid air.

NFL - Tuck rule. A fumble is a fumble. I don't care how you want to twist it. If his arm is not going forward in a throwing motion, then it's a fumble.

MLB - Infield fly rule. Don't even have to explain it.

It's a very, very smart rule.

i don't think they should get rid of it, but they should change the rules for it. i think once the player takes off, the defensive player should have to be already planted. if not, then it's a block or a no call.

i think they are voting to change this?

you're still upset about the play in game last year

it's a very good rule in general...when applied correctly

Yep, I am still mad.

I know it is a great rule to have, but someone needs to re-teach these umps of when the right time to call it is.

This is dumb, IMO. The offensive player can't just run over the defensive player. That's why the rule's in place. Otherwise, what's stopping the offense from bull-rushing their way all the way to the basket every time?

Most Braves fans still haven't gotten over it.

And yeah, there's no issue with the infield fly rule when it's called correctly.
