Semi pistols - to dry fire or to not dry fire?

The interwebs seems mixed on this debate "I've dry fired my weapon 10,000 time and it's never...", "dry firing will cause metal fatigue to the firing pin"...

Snap caps or dry fire?

Talking about modern DAO pistol.

As long as its not rimfire it aint gonna hurt anything.

Striker fired = good to go.
Hammer fired = broken firing pin and probably blow up in your hand.

Just triple check that its unloaded and pointed away from anything important.

I dry fire my Ruger. Not sure about hammer fired pistols.

I learned not to use the slide release on a 1911 without a bullet in the chamber. Broke a sear

I dry fire all my hammer guns all the time with no snap caps.

I don't think you are going to reach a consensus on it.
