They 7950 runs everything I own at max setting with no problem at 1080 on a 21 inch monitor. They 7970 can be OC and will outpace the OC 7950, but I have a 7950 already and dont want to buy two 7970 cards. Your's will also be more "future" proof than mine will be.

So my setup before my near future mobo/cpu upgrade will be:
7970 Powercolor
8 gig 1600 RAM
Phenom II Black X4 OC'd to 3.4
600 PSU
Mobo= Gigayte AM3 (cant remember, and too lazy to look)
Windows 8
My Mobo/CPU need upgrading, but will this do well if I am not an insane purist?

Prolly about the same as 8, they're 99 at newegg. I just know new windows always have problems for awhile and games tend to disagree with them. Vista was arse.

So far no problems with 8 other than my Phillips Ambx lighting. Those are now ugly desk fillers with no hope of new drivers.

It's a good card and you will be fine with it, overkill for the games out now unless you want more than 1080.

I think I am going to stay put with my 670. While this is a good deal I don't think I can afford to put the money down on a 1440 monitor at this point with grad school coming up. I will buy those games off you though.
