I just assumed, seeing as they were traveling from Sydney to LA. They lost communication a couple hours in and went off course. If they flew 2 hours west they would end up near the Philippines. South puts them between New Zealand and Antarctica. North and East put them in the South Pacific. My assumption may be off based though. If they explain it later on in the show please refrain from correcting me.

Just keep watching...you're in for a wild ride, no doubt.

I just hope you like/enjoy it the whole way through and don't get pissed off at it like some people did when it aired. But you should be fine.

I think the lack of wait time between episodes (and lack of commericals) will completely change the outlook for first time viewers. Not that he won't enjoy it as much, but he won't be as caught up in the details because many of his questions will be answered quicker rather than over the course of years.

It takes a lot to get my angry at a show. I stuck through 24 and never got mad even in Seasons 6 and 7. Even though HIMYM drives me nuts and some episodes are bland I still love watching it.

That's good. Like was mentioned early on in the thread, the show will take you in all sorts of different directions, but at the end of the day it's just for entertainment.

What was your reaction when you first saw the monster? I remember when we saw a tiny puff of smoke and the producers said that was the monster. I was like your kidding right?

If it makes you feel better, alot of people think this is the worst episode of the series. I agree with that, so at least you've gotten past the low point of the series.

Ironically it was also my first episode and gave me no desire to watch it.

The episode before "Hunting Party" was great and I was expecting something a lot better.

Fire and Water made me go from loving Charlie to hating Charlie. I didn't like him again until well...for those of you who watched the show you know the moment. Totally irrational. selfish behavior that couldn't even be blamed on drugs.

Watched The Long Con and One of Them last night. I really like Sayid, he may be my favorite character on the show.

I assume the symbols that started showing up when the button was almost not hit mean something but I have no clue what. I'm also assuming the guy Henry is an "other" but seemed a little careless to get trapped by Rousseau.

I am honestly so jealous of you right now. I am enjoying your thoughts as you watch along though...it's cool to see some of your theories and waiting to see how you will react to things.

I loved Sayid's approach of getting info, very Jack Bauer-ish. I don't really know what to think of Sawyer and Charlie doing what they did. Sawyer is a little childish, you took my stuff so I took yours.

re: Started Watching Lost and Love It So Far *FINISHED IT*

I just started it about 2 months ago. On season 4. My older brother loved this show and its his favorite show so I thought I'd give it a chance.

First half of season 3 blows. Almost turned me off of it. After the first half it picks back up.

Only thing I don't like about it is show unrealistic it is. And fantasy show don't bother me, I'm a big GOT guy. But, I don't like how they make it to be real life and not fantasy, then all this unrealistic crap happens to them. That's the only knock I have on the show. If its real, keep it real. If its fake, don't act like its real life. That's s what annoys me.

Sayid

Yeah, the first half of season 3 is somewhat meh compared to the rest of them, but once you hit "Tricia Tanaka is dead" (the Hurley centric episode--it always makes me smile and puts me in a good mood when I watch this episode) the rest of the season is amazing! (Stranger in a strange land and Expose are my least favorite LOST episodes) I think they are everybodys least favorites. I believe there was an industry wide writers strike that caused the lag at the beginning of season 3.

kballa, please keep this info in mind when you watch the first half of season 3, but the last half does NOT dissapoint. Do not let yourself be spoiled!
