Why does the NBA bring out the stupid in posters?

Every spring and early summer this board devolves into dozens of ridiculous comparison threads and petty arguing...seemingly way more than any other sport. Are people more passionate about it? Is it because there are fewer players? What say the MSB?

Because a lot of people are fans of NBA players instead of NBA teams, so the arguments tend to become more petty and personal.

Basketball is an accessible sport. The concept is simple comapred to baseball or football. This makes people believe they're experts on the sport when a lot of the tims they don't knoa squat.
