I remember his dad Levy giving me a beating at Jack Hayes Elem. back in the day. They lived by my grandparents and he told them I got in trouble. Great family and one hell of a player.

Found this from the 20th Aniv.

RIP Don Redden. You are missed.

I remember Ricky Blanton going into the stands to give the Redden family a game ball. I think Ricky was dating Don's sister back then. Don't know what ever happened with that, but Don Redden was a class act.

My wife (ex) got me a golden retriever for my birthday back when LSU was on that run, when Redden was playing and she named it Don, after him..

And, Ouachita High School plays for the state championship tomorrow in Monroe. His jersey hangs in the gym.

Sent me to the office after a fight. He told me later he had to send me but didn't want to. Always liked Coach Redden.

I hear ya. I got in a fight as well and he did the old I have to suspend you but I'll get your assignments for you so you don't fall behind.

OGTiger, they do a great job of recognizing him at Ouachita. The Redden Classic that they've held for a number of years brings in some great teams.

Just like Pete Maravich. He had an enlarged heart. They also had similarities with their jersey numbers. Pete wore number 44 in the pros and Redden wore 44 in college.

He was actually playing basketball the night before his friend found him unresponsive. I guess he got to give it one last run.

Don Redden and Ricky Blanton were class all the way. I miss Daddy Dale and the scrappy players he brought into the program.

Looks like coach Jones will be building that type of classy hardworking effort to TigerTown again !

When I lived in Baton Rouge, I had basketball season tickets and Don was one of my favorite players. I was heartbroken when I heard the news he had passed away. Same with Pete Maravich. I was lucky enough to be in the same class as he was so got to see all his games. We lost both players way too young.

She ended up marrying a doctor in Brookhaven, MS. I used to see her and her husband at the gym there all the time. Nice lady, very tall and pretty, stayed pregnant though. Five kids or at least at that time it was I think. She was on the ladies basketball team after Don.
