Anybody else concerned about our OL this year?

La'el Collins is a lock. Trai Turner and Vadal Alexander figure to start as well. After that it looks shaky. Josh Wiliford has experience starting at RG, but couldn't regain his position from Turner once he got healthy. Elliott Porter is the heir apparent at C, but is unproven.

How do you see this year's OL shaping up? Who starts?

I feel like if we could survive the OL cluster-frick that was 2012, we should be fine with just about any combination of the talent we have.

Not really.

ETA:
From left to right it will look one of two ways

Collins Williford Porter Turner Alexander

or

Hawins Collins Porter Turner Alexander

I think Porter can be effective as much as the next guy but he is absolutely unproven.

No he's not. He played a lot last year. Lonergan was injured quite a bit.

I was until we got out O-Line coach back fulltime. Coach Stud will get it all figured out.

Coaches will experiment with the OL this spring no doubt.

Hawkins at LT/RT
Collins at LT, LG
Fanaika at LG
Porter at OC
Turner at LG/RG
Williford at every spot sans OC
Alexander at RT/OG

They will find the best starting 5 hopefully. They have a good crop to choose from.

He'd be a reasonable option at guard if he weren't 30 lbs overweight right now.

Porter has gotten some good game experience when Lonegran went down last year here and there. LT should be a positive battle. Whoever wins is going to succeed there as they will have beaten out some serious competition. Right side will be better with more experience.

Like another poster said, if we can survive the OL musical chairs thing last season, we'll be fine.

Williford should play in some capacity, maybe start, idk. Porter will be in the mix.

Fehoko Fainaka (sp?) may see playing time too.

I'm not overly concerned.

Plus Gerald Hawkins at LT, maybe even RT if Collins protects Metts blindside.

He started 1 game against Idaho and played spot duty outside of that. Nobody is proven on the OL after starting 1 game against a cupcake and playing here and there for just 1 year.

What underclassmen you do see getting substantial playing time?

Edinburgh?
Who else?

Thanks, I dont know how I forgot about Hawkins, fixed my post.

He is the favorite for the LT job going in, but Collins could very well take it away.

Hawkins seems like the most likely. Early workout reports on Pocic have been good. They're both tackles though so it's tough to see them getting a lot of PT if Collins moves out to LT.

I'm most anxious to see who is the back up to Porter. I want to see how much Alexander has developed over the offseason, slimming down and what not.

I really think we'll have our deepest OL in years, talent wise.
