My very dark horse at OLB for the Saints

Braylon Broughton
Originally committed to Arizona, but his enrollment was not approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Did not play football or attend school for the next year as he helped support his family, with his mother dying of cancer.
Looks every bit the part with a rocked-up, athletic build — has an NFL physique. Shows easy lower-body movement and has a 36-inch vertical leap. However, played just one season of high school football and started just five games as a senior at TCU. Is a hardworking, mature, very raw size-speed prospect with moldable talent and untapped potential.
PFW
Lost as a classic tweener in Spags 4-3.
Height: 6-4 1/4
Weight: 255
Speed: 4.68
Arm: 33 3/4
Hand: 9 3/4
Wingspan: 81 3/8
36" vertical
Bench 26 times
Birthdate: 12/25/1987
Hometown: Dallas, TX
His 40 time would have been 7th best of linebackers at combine 2013. His bench would have been 5th best. His vertical 4th best FWIW.
He has his shot now!
As to our other LB's.
Martez we all expect at OLB.
Broughton is built for OLB.
Galette is I think nothing but a third down pass rusher. Maybe end on 3rd.
Hawthorn Lofton and Austin Johnson at ILB
We let go Herring and save 1.5 mil
Let Chamberlain go save 1.05 mil
Humber and Casillas let go.
Hopefully add better talent at OLB through FA and draft.

His tackles make quarterbacks shite bricks.

Casillas is 6'1" 227. I just don't see a fit. He can play middle better than any other position but we dont need him there.
I sure wouldn't put him on the outside.
He's due 1.2 million.
Where do you see him for that price?

Casillas was one of my favorites the past few years but he just doesnt fit a 3-4 system one bit.

The picture itself is enough for me to give him a chance.
He has to be better than the Scott

He looked good in camp this summer. Was beating the O-line in drills. Long arms and looks strong.

I first thought of a Saints 3-4 defense when we signed him last offseason. He just seemed like a good fit opposite of Martez but someone on here said he put on like 20 lbs and I doubt he still moves the way he did at that weight.

I agree that he fits the new system better.
Apparently last year he really embraced the opportunity the Saints gave him and dedicated himself to really learning the game more than he had at any point prior (according to several Hawthorne tweets answering TCU fans asking how BB was doing).
His measurables are insane and he has great edge rush ability as well as good lateral movement when it comes to tracking the ball.
Fingers crossed for the big guy this year.
