Pressure Washer Recommendations

Looking for suggestions for a gas powered pressure washer to be used around the house. I have a 2,500 psi Craftsman that is several years old, but I despise it. The supply for the water to the hose/ wand is an aluminum threaded pipe that sprays out more water than the wand does. This problem can be averted by having a quick-connect hose connection, but Craftsman took the cheap route and left the threaded coupling on this one.
Anyway, budget in the $250 to $400 range for a new pressure washer that doesn't leak live a sieve.

That one looks nice. I like the Honda engine on it. I was beginning to think I was going to have to venture over to the Poli Board to find some men that do their own yard work for a response.

I like your suggestion more, JibbaJabba. I can save $100 bucks on that one versus the one Chad delivered.

And you don't have to pay to ship the heavy sombitch.

I have always had the best success with Honda motors and CAT pumps. We even used one of their bigger pumps on a $5 million machine we built at my old job. Professional pressure washing crews use Honda/CAT stuff.
Do not get one of those new eco friendly Honda motors. They are pieces of shite and hard as all get out to start. Do yourself a favor and get some good hose too.
I have bought from pressurewashersdirect and northern tool before and haven't had any problems. I think pressure washer direct throws in a free hose or they did when I bought the last one

They're also expensive to get worked on.

You can get rebuild kits for cat pumps, but I haven't ever had to get one serviced, and used one pretty hard for a few years. Honda motors are the best small motors period. If you can't fix a small motor, you've got bigger problems than worrying about dirty concrete
Also, I don't know if this can be stressed enough, do not put ethanol gas in that motor

The Eco friendly Hondas are expensive to get serviced and if its cold, good luck starting them frickers.

It seems like they need a compression release or something. I have yanked a few of those about 3ft sideways trying to pull them

My recommendation is to borrow your neighbors.

We use a 3000 psi john deere with a 255cc subaru on it. Expensive but we use it 60 times a year minimum and have had it for 8 years with 0 problems.

I used to have a business and we did this on the side. This being pressure washing. Remember gpm is almost always more important than psi. We used to run BE cool drives. They have belts instead of drive shafts, ours had cat pumps too. Paid close to $2,000 for one but they made the job easy.
Sold the company and all but one of the washers. I keep it at my parents house for quick cleanings of four wheelers, boats, and house.
Eta: all of mine had 13 horse Hondas too. The one I still have needs a rebuild on the pump.

I have researched this thoroughly.
There is not a decent one in that price range.
A decent one for home use can be had, but it's around $650.
Go look at the ones HD rents vs the ones they sell.
Interesting.

Disagree.
I've used a generac for 4 years now, zero problems. Same with my grandpa. Is it something you'd use commercially? No. Will it work around the house? Absolutely.

Landa.
The vaunted Honda engines on the $300 units at HD are crap.

Honda motor with cat pump as stated earlier in this thread.
All else is disposable junk

I'm glad you had good service with yours.
After a two bad experiences with new ones I bought, I talked to a guy in the business. His company cleaned Mt. Rushmore.
He gave me some good info and recommended Landa for occasional commercial and home use.
Sure enough, the next time I rented one from HD, I noticed it was Landa.
They were still selling the other crap.
