Bowman Brothers Pioneer Spirit (Bourbon . . . from Virginia)

I drink my fair share of bourbon - and probably infringe on the shares of others from time to time - and I had never seen this stuff until this past week.
Small batch, 90 proof, distilled in Fredericksburg Virginia. $23 for 750 ml at the Fort Belvoir Class VI - on sale, I believe.
Not too sweet - which I like - and reminds a bit of Knob Creek, but with less initial punch.
I'm a fan. It's not elite, but it's well above average.
Just thought I'd share.

I tried two versions of the Bowman Bros. while in DC. I agree they weren't life changing but another good option to pick up.
The Sazerac company has so many good bourbons, I could just drink their offerings and be happy the rest of my life.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to keep an eye out; always looking to try different bourbons. Enjoying a bottle of Jefferson Reserve right now.

I was curious to try a non-Kentucky bourbon (oxymoron?).
I bought a small bottle of some brown liquid made from George Washington's own whiskey recipe out at Mt. Vernon several years back. They made it on site. Stuff was undrinkable.
Happy with this.

to be honest, i don't think i've ever bought a bottle of non-kentucky bourbon. a few months ago, a bartender in Austin talked me into trying the Hudson Baby Bourbon out of NY...it took a lot of convincing...

Did you like the Baby Bourbon? I have a bottle that I opened about a year ago and don't really care for it.
These guys seem to have tried to cash in on the bourbon boom. The bourbon is only aged 4 years and it is done in smaller barrels than normal. They say it speeds up the aging and the depth of flavor. I didn't find it to be true. It seemed to make the taste harsh.

i thought it was ok but not great. i didn't find it harsh, but definitely a little sweet. wouldn't buy a bottle but i'd drink it again if it was in front of me.
