I'd get a rec for a better place. It was truly awful last time I went. It was like they had taken a Sysco pre-made crust topped it with Sysco marinara and generic toppings. All around just bland and terrible. Would have preferred Pizza Hut. Seriously.

I agree. If its your choice then go somewhere else.
Wife's grandmother lived across the street from Mona Lisa ate there once and that was it. Way too many other places in quarter to waste money there. Go to Irene's

Fair enough. At least the beer was cold. Check back in afterwards. Maybe they've improved in the last few years.

Wish i could give you a ray of optimism, but it does suck. Pizza is about the best they do, and its lame. Try the meat special pizza. Chianti is decent so drink heavily.

It's too bad because I would really like to love the place. I like a lot about it, just not the food.

Makes me sad because the initial plan was dragos. Which I would have clowned on some chargrilled

See if you can talk them into going someplace else nearby. If they truly want inexpensive Italian, even La Pizza Kitchen would be an improvement, and its only about 3 blocks away. Better food and wine. For slightly more $, go up Decatur to Maximo's, or try Irene's. The African place next door to Mona Lisa's, Bennachin, is not bad either (and cheap as hell). Or, bring cash, go to Frenchman, and hit up Aldolpho's.

Just giving an update since someone asked.

We ended up going to dragos instead which was top notch as usual. I got the duck with oyster pasta it was great. And of course the chargrilled oysters were amazing.

I've been, it was ok. Many better places to go, but if it's free...
