Had a chance to see what was going on across the Atchafalaya.

Looks like some ULL fans are catching on that their time in the FBS is coming to a close.

Western Kentucky to CUSA

They are already pointing fingers at administrators from the 1990's to blame for their current predicament.

I love ULL academics (where I have my Bachelor's). The sports fan base... not so much.

As redemption, I did receive a Master's and Law Degree from LSU. I atoned.

Did you do the MBA/JD at the same time? I wanted to do it after I graduated, but the state would only pay for SLU for my MBA.

Back on topic: ULL football isn't worth staying in D1. Their baseball/softball can be good, but that's really about it.

So Tulsa to the Big East, WKU to CUSA, and James Madison, App State, and Georgia Southern to the Sunbelt?

I can't figure out why the BE wants Tulsa. Its a tiny school in Oklahoma.

I would think UMass would be a much better fit longterm.

Actually I don't have anything against them. Almost went there for undergrad, but I just stayed in BR.

If you're ULL would you rather be in D1 where there is no chance of making the playoffs under the current(new) system, or moving down to D2 where you can actually make the playoffs and be a relevant team?

Yes I took advantage of the dual degree program. It worked out well for me. SLU's MBA is legit from what I understand so kudos on that.

IMO, this would actually be good for the Sunbelt.

I'm reading that thread and those ULL fans don't seriously think they're getting a Big 12 invite?

It's not a bad decision. I'm just thinking more long term after you lose your coach.

FCS =/= D2

The fact that the Big Least is resorting to Tulsa to try its best to stay relevant, should be a sign that the current FBS system is nearing an end, especially with the playoff system in place (and future expansion of it likely).

Structurally, the FBS is becoming FBS-A and FBS-AA. The big schools are trying so hard to get away from the ankle-biters, and rightly so.

Why would an SEC, Big Ten, Big XII, ACC, Pac-12 want teams at the table that are heavily subsidized by state funds? I know that if I were at a school generating 90-100 percent of my schools revenue, I wouldn't want to share the pie with schools that rely on 35-70 percent of athletic funding to come from the state.

You don't understand D1 do you? You can't move down just one sport. You have to move every sport to D2.

FCS isn't D2 either.
