If there is miscalculation being committed by the NHS bureaucracy, perhaps there is, then why are Brits so proud of their system.

You claim that miscalculation leads to inefficient distribution. There is no evidence of any large scale inefficient distribution in the United Kingdom.

I do not have the necessary knowledge to answer that question. Ignorance maybe? I can't be sure.

You can not prove it empirically because what you would be comparing it to would be "what would have happened without socialized medicine." Which is impossible to know.

Socialist Calculation always leads to inefficient distribution because there is no pricing system and central planners do not have the necessary knowledge to efficiently allocate resources based on individual preferences.

I don't like the idea of having "socialized" anything.

Why not? It's not like medical care works like anything resembling a free market anyway. In the case of emergency services, we can't exactly shop around. It more resembles a police or fire department.

And then layered on top of that we have insurance, which is an inherently socialist concept.

Some of you guys need to get your heads out of your asses.

I don't even want to get into this discussion.

Because you know you're wrong on this issue.

Are you going to babble some more about public opinion (As if that means anything)?

I haven't even stated anything on my position on insurance. I just can't believe someone would refer to the concept of insurance as "socialistic".

Probably because there is no logical way to dispute it.

Do you even understand the concepts you advocate? A market system is price mechanisms plus public opinion.

You are talking about the concept of insurance, correct?

What definition of Socialism are you operating under?

Very much so.

Individual opinion, as determined by action and not some skewed belief of theirs.

Probably because a certain type of person equates the word "socialist" with "evil" instead of what the essence of the idea is: pooling of resources to reduce the risk of an individual.

I use the definition of Socialism when discussing Socialism. That is:

Government ownership over the means of production.

I don't see how individual action/opinion can be separated from public action/opinion, especially on a large scale. Public action/opinion is, in effect, a collection of individual actions/opinions.

1. There is no such thing as public action or opinion.

2. I can say something, but my actions determine what I valued more. Saying something is more or less inconsequential in a pricing system. Acting on your preferences however...

Because people like ''free shit'' no matter how awful the service.

Ok. Redefine, reframe or reject common terminology to fit within your hyper-libertarian dogma.

OK... So why haven't the world's many democratic nations with socialized or mixed healthcare systems scrapped them? Why are their healthcare costs lower? Why is their patient satisfaction higher?

Would this end up costing Americans MORE for healthcare than with the insurance system we have now?

quote:

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the United States spent more on health care per capita ($7,146), and more on health care as percentage of its GDP (15.2%), than any other nation in 2008

595/month each

per-capita state-sponsored health expenditures in the United States are the third-highest in the world, only below Norway and Luxembourg.
