I think the prob is, certain cops are on a power trip
I think most of the open carry proponents are the ones on power trips.
They want to:
1. Impress the clerks at the Circle-K.
2. Impress (or scare) the soccer moms.
3. "Educate" the public.
4. Act like dicks when cops show up in response to a call.

did he commit a crime? Nope. So no need to show ID
Can't just walk around asking for folks IDs just because
Absolutley incorect. He is open-carying, which is legal, if he is not a convicted felon. In order to determine record he must be identified. I'm totally OK with asking for ID.
In fact when he refused to produce, ID I would hope the officer would detain him untill back-up arrived and they determined his identity.
I'm OK with making statements but I also want the police to do their jobs and protect the populace from imbeciles.

Does that mean no presumption of innocence?
Without the presumption of innocence there is no such thing as an "unreasonable search", without "unreasonable searches" we lose our 4th Amendment right, "...to be secure in their persons...against unreasonable searches".
I'm not willing to give up any 4th Amendment rights I have left.

Open carried at the donut shop this morning on the way out to the camp. Busy, long line in small shop. Maybe 15 people. In line the older gentleman behind me taps me on my back and asks about my Glock that was on my belt. He then shows me his .38 under his over shirt. As we spoke about guns and such in line, I then notice a man (he also noticed me) at the counter with a police badge on his belt. 3 of us with guns in the Donut shop. Safest place in town this morning.

Criminals don't open carry.
Neither do educated people who aren't trying to draw attention to themselves.

I sometimes inspect vacant properties in shady neighborhoods. Like where thugs congregate on their front porch. I'm 5 ft 100 lbs with 34 Ds. You better believe I'm open carrying to let those idiots know if you try to frick with me, you get blasted.

I do this for several reasons, one is that I document every encounter I have with anyone. I will also let them know that I want identification for documentation purposes. I'll also ask if they mind if I run the serial numbers on their gun. I don't mind being told no but I'm gonna try and be as thourough as possible. I'm doing a job and will be as professional and respectful as possible. My credibility with the courts, my co-workers, and the public is very important in my line of work. Fine line keeping that and doing a job that many times offends people.
Point is, he's out of line for asking for the ID
I see many people open carry that stare at me just waiting for me to say something to them. It almost seems that they are more alarmed by being armed than everyone else. Guess they are waiting for the attention that they seek.

I'm sorry but that's the only thing I noticed.

Kind of hard to miss. At that size you're like 30% boobs.
