Is this a good deal on a S&W M&P .40?

I was in Bud's today and they had a stack of LE trade-in's S&W M&P .40 for $409. I looked at the display they had and it looked in really good condition. They had cases, but I'm not sure what else was included. The sales lady didn't know how old they were. They had about 10 of them.
Would you assume that LE only used these at the range, and would you think they had a ton of rounds ran through them if they were LE?

If there are legit LE guns, then they've had thousands of rounds fired through them.

Or use the money you save getting a used one to buy an Apex tactical trigger kit.

Or buy an M&P40 and buy a factory S&W M&P 9mm barrel. It is a straight drop-in with no modification required, not even a recoil spring change.

I would buy one at that price. M&Ps are built around the 40 S&W cartridge so they will not wear out very quickly, even after 1000s of rounds.

It's been my experience that LE trade-ins have lots of holster wear, but very few rounds through them.

Most cops shoot only to re-qualify. Most agencies have small training budgets.

The cops that shoot a lot are the gun enthusiasts. Most do not fall into this category.

Yep. A lot of officers only fire to requalify when they have to. I know several people who've gotten good deals on police trade ins.
