great article

Seems like he's being the same DJ he was at LSU. Quiet, determined player that just seems to fly under the radar. Good for him. Hope he can keep impressing and become a starter down the line.

Great Article. Horrible trade by the Cubs to get rid of him and Tyler Colvin for an injury prove Ian Stewart. Cubs have Starlin Castro, Darwin Barney, Junior Lake and Javier Baez but seems like he could have been a very serviceable backup to those guys at the big league level.

It was obvious from day 1 at LSU that DJ had the tools, skill set, and work ethic to become a long time MLB player. He has a good steady swing, great defensive range/length, and was always a very consistent player. By all accounts he was also a hard worker and great teammate. I think he was the most sure thing long timer MLB'er in my mind we've had in a while at LSU. He wasn't ever going to AWE! anyone with some ability, but he was all-around very, very solid with a great upside.

Great to see him doing well.

I can see him being an MLB backup and occasional starter for 10 years.

As a Cubs fan, I am entitled to say this.....Did you really expect anything different from the Cubs? Jeez. I mean I love my boys in Wrigleyville, but it's an annual deal with them getting rid of good talent.

Hey I'm starting to have some faith in Epstein & Company. They seem to have made a few good moves/signings already.

You could argue LeMahieu was the MVP of the Championship series with Texas. Mitchell won, and deservedly so, but LSU gets swept if not for LeMahieu's two run double in the 9th to tie game 1. That hit was as clutch as any in LSU CWS history. The Morris and Cresse hits are more celebrated and for obvious reasons, but LeMahieu's was almost equal in importance and timing.

Yep...Great kid. In baseball circles, he's been a household name up here in Michigan for quite some time. Brother Rice I believe but we used to run in to him in travel ball quite often. Mid-Michigan Tigers

Agreed (except for maybe Coleman). I always thought he was a better prospect than Jared Mitchell.
