Will the Ravens let Flacco go?

SI's Peter King isn't "so sure" the Ravens will use the exclusive-rights franchise tag on free agent Joe Flacco.
King believes it's "actually possible" the Ravens use the non-exclusive tag, and that Flacco could be "stolen by a quarterback-needy and starved-for-relevance team." King concedes it's not "probable," but floats the Browns, Cardinals and Bills as possible pursuers should Flacco receive the non-exclusive tag. King seems particularly keen on the idea of Cleveland making a run. Per King, the Ravens and Flacco will begin negotiating a long-term deal this week. The deadline to apply the franchise tag is March 4.

I might be in the minority, but I don't think he's worth Brady/Brees money.

I dont think hes worth that but the Ravens have to pay him. It would be a PR disaster if they let him go
Although i think he would faulter behind the Cardinals OLine

I don't think he is either. But the Ravens gambled and lost. He may not be worth that money, but that's what it will cost for them to keep him. And I don't think Baltimore can afford to let him get away.
Flacco is easily top-10 in the league, and that's not so easy to replace.

Agreed. But now they have to pay him.

Well...there are 9 other guys

While I think he's very good and when he's on he's one of the best in the league, I don't think he can carry a team.

Who among them is looking for a new team?

Don't even try to argue with him. He's hopelessly stupid
And even if these guys were looking for another team, they aren't going to come at a discount either.

If they let him go, who could they sign that will come in an win the superbowl and be the superbowl MVP?

it's arguable, so it's not 'easy' imho
the best thing the ravens could do is let a team sign flacco for 2, 1sts and keep going to the playoffs with mediocre QBs

Flacco ain't goin anywhere. And he will make the big bucks. Whether anyone likes it it not

Flacco is top 10-12, but if the Ravens let him go, he will be very hard to replace since no one is going to let their marquee QBs go. Is anyone even close to free agency among the top 15-20 QBs?
I suppose they could trade for Matt Flynn or Alex Smith, but that seems crazy for a Super Bowl winner to do. And if I was SF, I would not trade Smith to a top contender. Same with Seattle and Flynn.

Flacco is somewhere in the second quartile of starting QB's.

While Flacco is not a QB who can put the team on his back (top four and sometimes the next four), there may a little too much of a decline to starting some rookie or current backup. I think Flacco deserves somewhere between 3/5 and 3/4 of the Brees contract. 5/70?
