They are trying to discount a report that interviewed 463 people. They need to come terms with the fact that JoePa knew what was going on and turned the other way. Any lawsuit againt the NCAA will be a lost cause and cost them milllions.

They were as deep in the cult of personality as anyone could be.

If only Joe cared as much about the victims as they care about clearing his name.

Jay Paterno was on mike and mike this a.m. Basically, you have to believe that Joe Pa knew absolutely nothing about the '98 investigation into Sandusky to buy the Paterno family's side of the story.

I saw this scroll across the ESPN Ticker the other night. The story is exhausted. Joe Pa is dead. Sandusky is in prison. The program has been placed under Sanctions and Coach O'Brien is handling it accordingly. They just need to accept it and move on. They should build a Joe Pa/Penn State "shrine" in their den and reminisce the good ole days.

Its frightening how cultish they are. I don't think anything they do is going to make them look any better. Now trying to discredit the Freeh report? Call me crazy but if anyone is going to fight tooth and nail to ensure their investigative reputation remains sterling, its going to be a former director of the FBI. I don't see this ending well for the the Paterno cult.

I don't think defending your dad or husband is a cult. It may be denial, but majority of families will do this and its not cultish.

Be that as it may, they are still coming off as stupid to everyone except the small portion of the Penn State community that condones child molestation.

The Paterno family needs to hide in seclusion.

More like 30 people and relied upon less than that in the majority of their conclusions.

It's his family - they claim to know the man better than anyone. You can say it's cultish if some fanbase or students paid for this report...but it's the family. That's something entirely different. The Freeh report isn't just attacking JoePa but them and their family and the Freeh report tried JoePa in the public forum w/o a rebuttal. There was no trial for JoePa...so this is essentially his defense. Nothing wrong with that in America.

Actually, listening to him on Mike and Mike this morning, he made a good argument. I've not read either report and I find it very hard to believe that JoePa had no knowledge of Sandusky previous to the shower incident but what if Jay's report is accurate. Would you not do everything you could to try and clear your father's name?

kind of hard to believe JoPa wouldn't know about something so serious that involved his then assumed head coach in waiting who had been on his staff for 30 years.

Some of us would like to hear all viewpoints before we make our minds up. Anyone who takes the Freeh Report as gospel isn't necessarily a fool, but they don't really care about facts and truths.
