Officiating is one of those aspects of athletics that's very complicated to address as a fan. It's an integral part of the game and affects the outcome. Proving bias is virtually impossible. Coaches can't because they don't want that tag on them for fear of becoming a marked man amongst the officials. I believe coaches can submit through the league office tape evidence of questionable calls. However, what happened this evening calls for, at minimum, an inquiry. If that's the level SEC basketball officiating has to offer, what's the point in watching the games?

Officiating has always been bad in the SEC. Nothing changes. Ultimately, LSU will catch a break.

The officiating in tonight's game was the basketball equivalent of the 2006 football game at Auburn and the 2009 football game at 'Bama.

This seems to always happen to LSU in close road games when they play in the state of Alabama.

It would take a novel.

BAMA 31 FT
LSU 15 FT

Numerous no calls on walks & fouls by BAMA.

Critical possession call in BAMA's favor late in game.

Very questionable fouls against LSU.

In short, a new low for SEC officiating.

After watching the game, yes the officiating was poor and more often than not did not go our way, but that can't be the go to excuse. We had way to many dumb plays that need to be addressed ahead of officiating

Granted we shot the ball poorly in the first half and made a few dumb mistakes! But that has to go down as one of the most lopsided officiated games i,ve seen in a long time! Pitiful!!! We lost 4 games this year we should have won! Young team new coach, we,ll get there.

It's pretty bad when even the announcers are questioning the calls.. Especially late in the game when possession is in question and you can go back to the monitor to review that.

Few times it looked like O'Bryant took 1 step and got called for a walk.. Few times Bama guys would take 5 steps, no walk. Even rewound it and watched again. Was amazing.

They let a little bit go both ways early on in terms of bodying. Granted their guys were like 7 ft taking out Hickey and some smaller guys in comparison

It was pretty bad. Lacey walked atleast 5 times trying to get to the basket, the calls and no calls at the end were pretty joke worthy.

Not an excuse, just the facts. Even with all that, hit a couple of those wide open threes at the end and LSU still had a shot.

But it was pretty clear that LSU wasn't getting any calls.

There was one series, with about 3 minutes left to go in a 2 or 3 point game that went...

1. No call travel on Bama
2. Ball knocked out of bounds by Bama play called out on us
3. Phantom foul call on LSU
4. Bama misses FT, gets rebound & travels simultaneously
5. another questionable foul on us

or something along those lines. About 4 or 5 calls went Bama's way in a 20 second stretch. It was pitiful, & yes, even the announcers were questioning the refs

ETA: not to mention Releford missing the FT near the end of the game gets the FT rebound before the 2nd shot & jacks up a practice free throw right in from of the ref. IDK what the call should have been there but it was a WTF moment. I bet if LSU had pulled that shite, refs would have found way to T us up.

It was bad no doubt. Any time a team goes to the line over twice what you do is cause for concern.

when we got the defensive board, with 3 LSU players under the basket & no gumps in the area? Awful.

It really is comical to watch the level of corruption in the SEC. I'm honestly to the point where it is so predictable, in just about every sport, that it is no longer fun to watch.

One thing is certain, I'm no longer putting my money towards it.

Here are some of my favorite highlights from last night:

LSU pulls within two with about 2 1/2 minutes to go, and the refs really step it up.

Bama walk
Bama knocks ball out (ball given back)
Phantom Foul
Shoots FT, then gets the ball back without giving it to the ref and shoots a PRACTICE FT LOLOLOL
Another travel on the rebound of missed FT
Second phantom foul

I could go on an on. That was one sequence.

There were also numerous times Bama would inbound a ball after a violation call (not a score), and the inbounder would run up the sideline passing it in. Basic shite and no calls.

Another day, another fixed game in the SEC.

With TV, replay, etc, they are just rubbing it in your face now.

Terrible calls when it counted but just like in football we didn't play to our strength and what was working for us at the critical time in the game and it cost us a victory, imho
With all the possessions we had in the last 2 mins, instead of going down low, which was working, we rushed down the court and jacked up 3s.

Actually, we were going low until about 30-40 seconds left when they really started stretching the lead. We also hit a huge 3 in the last minute to pull within 2.
We went low, missed a shot, got a rebound, then a fantom foul call on #5 put Bama back at the FT line.

LSU played it right coming back. Every key call in the last two minutes went against them, by design.

Scripted and predictable.

In short, a new low for SEC officiating. Even the announcers were dismayed by the bogus calls last night. 4 travels and a double dribble and a dribble off the leg all got no calls. Three times #14 sent an LSU player sliding across the floor. The nuber of elbows used by bama to start their drive was uncountable. But remember the SEC is created to ensure bama gets the breaks and no calls.
