Yup that's why I'm saying the team has no choice to restructure Brees and Evans. Plus other players

Wasn't there an article on here a couple of days ago saying they had 2.7Mil of space?

ETA: Misread article. My statement above is pure stupidity.

No. That was just the amount of last year's unused cap space. I believe some if not all is rolled over to this year.

Cutting Will Smith, Vilma, and Roman Harper only saves 6 million in 2013 cap space?

Anyone have ideas on how they're going to cut all that salary? I don't think cutting Smith, Vilma and Harper would get them even half way.

Cut Jonathan Vilma, Will Smith, Will Herring, Garrett Hartley and David Thomas.

Look to restructure Roman Harper, Lance Moore, Jabari Greer, and Pierre Thomas.

scary math, eh?

Figure sumpin out from HERE

Evans needs a restructure @ $9.8mil hit, could get $5mil relief

If Bunkley isn't a fulltimer sumpin could be done with him. Will cost $4mil of cap (and real money given) to cut. He would still cost a few hundred $K to the cap this year but save $13.2mil over the next 3 yrs. Take it from there

Oops, Jimmy Graham needs extending. Oops, we only have Charles Brown for LT unless re-signing Bushman or getting someone with another contract.

Harper would be a $6mil saving for 2014. When cut, bonuses are accelerated to the current year. So only a $1.5mil net savings on him for 2013.

A cap master shouldn't have to do this every year, eventually we'll start losing guys which is bound to happen this year.

At least we have the draft as back up..,.oh wait

Loomis:

"Well, it's not a mess. ... It's tight, though. Let's not kid ourselves. It's tight, and we've got some work to do, but it's things that we could navigate through. We've navigated them before, not just here but when I was with the Seahawks. We have years when we have tight caps. And look, these caps, they run in cycles where you're right up against it and then you're not, particularly when you have a good team. So we're on the cycle where we're going to be up against it. We're not up against it, we're over it pretty significantly. So we've got some work to do."

We've had a successful run with a number of players over the past 6 years or so. That in turn means you have to reward a number of players with rewarding contracts. Its due to the own success of the team and finding talent. You have to keep the talent. There could be arguments made that maybe we shouldn't have kept a few individuals with some of these contracts but you would have to in part share the blame with Payton for his insight with Loomis in saying he agrees it would be a wise idea to keep player X at contract range B. You seem to put a lot of the personnel decision making for the bad on Mickey but thinks Payton only has a say on the O. I think that logic is wrong.
