Who here does not care about recruiting?

I don't care about it at all. I know I'm not alone.
I'm sure a good number of people who actually do care about it will come in this thread anyway, so for those who do, why do you care so much about it?

I want LSU to do well, but I don't care enough to follow it player by player. Not even close.

It helps CF last all year long.

The same reason people care about the NFL Draft. Because I'm a fan.

The combination of the how bad the game day coaching at LSU is and the fact that I think there is a real chance referees are told to rig games (no need to look further than LSU v Bama with the PP interception) leaves me caring little about college football anymore.
Now I do like to see homegrown boys get scholarships to major colleges. It means our grassroots system in the state is doing well.

I don't start following it until a week or two before NSD. By following it, I mean reading stories and stuff. I don't have any subscriptions to those websites. Some people are super invested.

You are not alone....
Of course, I want LSU to recruit well, and they typically do. However, I am not one to follow it second-by-second, starving for every little morsel of information about what a 17 year old is doing with his weekend. I don't care who is a "hard lean", nor do I care about who is re-opening his recruitment. A lot of these kids are a bunch of little attention whores and I am just above giving a shite about it.
I will look at the list at the end of the day today....then probably not look at it again until August. The over-sensationalization of recruiting by the press makes me want to puke, and the fans who just have to have the info fuel the fire.
So no, you are not alone!

You miss the point. Recruiting is obviously important. However, I do not need to be privy to every little detail leading up to signing day.

I want my teams to recruit well because obviously that matters but I could care less about the process and all the fanfare.

Yeah the TV shite makes me laugh. Then we wonder why these athletes think they're above the law and don't have to follow the rules, study hard, etc. People worship these kids at a YOUNG age.

I'm with you. I remember I was REALLY into it in highschool, but since then my interest has drastically declined.
Show me what you can do on Saturday night...not on Friday night.

Pretty much sums up CFB in general IMO.

I follow the big names that LSU is targeting around this time of year, but I don't get worked up about it.
Every year we see 5 star recruits bust and a 3 star become an All American. I don't understand why people put so much stock into it

this and your other post are pretty much exactly how I feel. when they touch the playing field at LSU, I'll learn their names. until then, I don't care.

i was too, but i think that's more of a fascination...like those were our classmates at the time. it was interesting/cool to see them choose where they were going.
but a bunch of grown arse men following 17 and 18 year olds' lives...it's pretty creepy.

I mostly agree with this and casually keep up with it but I don't think people who care about recruiting should be made to feel guilty about it. I agree that it's pretty sad how some fans take it way too far and you have middle age and older fans who get so invested in the decision of 18 year old players. On the other hand, I get really sick of the arrogant and hypocritical attitude of NFL fans who have no interest in college football browbeating college fans for following recruiting when they live and die with the NFL Draft and jock sniff all the incoming pro prospects. Many of these are the same Fantasy Football nerds that have the nerve to tell college fans to get a life. As annoying as the college recruiting zealots are, the NFL/Fantasy Football nerd zealots are even worse.
