Wow, finally some positive news for Astros fans. Hopefully the "reboot" method will pay off.

Furcal is supposed to be ready

If Matt Carpenter can be in the lineup, 5 out of 7 days a week, Cards have that bat big bat at 2b.

Guy can hit, he just doesn't have a position to play, so they are trying to teach him 2b.

I go to a lot of Springfield Cardinals games(AA). Love seeing those players make it to the Bigs and watching them on TV after seeing them play down in Springfield.

Our farm system is only top 15 because of Billy Hamilton. We traded away our gems in the Latos deal and then traded away another top prospect in the Choo deal.

Really, while organizational depth is nice, the only thing that matters is high end prospects. The point of a minor league system is to provide the major league team with talent. Even the worst farm system can crank out back of the bullpen guys and backup utility infielders. What separates a good system from a bad one is Major League Talent.

While I do think the Cards are #1, this is a long way of saying people are way underrating the Yankees system. I've heard the knock is they only have four top tier prospects and nothing else. To which I say... exactly.

I hate the f'n Yankees. But if the system cranks out four MLB hitters to replace their aging lineup, then their system is a success.

I get what you're saying but I don't see 4 MLB caliber starters there.

ETA: you are 100% correct though, good minor league talent is irrelevant unless it translates to the big stage.

Taveras debuted as a 17 year old and is only 20 now. Foreign guys' rankings' are always skewed because they have nothing to go on and the guys need to pan out before they climb the rankings.

US high school and college guys never come out of nowhere, generally. It's also why you see more US guys "bust"; they are hyped more than foreigners
