Bream in February

So, I took Tigerdeacon, Jr. (age 3) fishing this past Saturday. Just a couple of poles (not cane) and my ultralight. In about an hour we caught five catfish, four bass, five white-sac-au-crappie-specs-perch and 11 bream.
I have never caught so many bream this early in the year and they were all hitting shiners. Now, we originally stocked this pond 25 years ago with hybrid bluegill and a couple of years ago (but maybe last winter) dad put in some more hybrid bream. They must have been a different type of hybrid, because these bream looked different (not goggle-eye, or a long ear). Sorry, no pics.
Anyway, never thought I would be catching bream at the first of February.

I caught a few at Christmas time many years ago when my grandparents lived on Lake Claiborne. We were fishing for bass and found a good mess of them. I'd rather have fish than turkey for Chrimmas dinner.

Its the mild winter. Couple of years ago, everything was a month behind schedule, this year looks like they are a month ahead.

Just did a little google research. Looked like the redear x green sunfish cross.

My buddy has a hybrid in his pond. It looks like a chiquapin/goggle eye cross. Bastards get big, phone to catch on ultra lights.
