and im starting to feel really bad because i feel like i could have gotten more money

when i was told what the salary range was i got 5k above what they said because that was my offer but when i looked online at glassdoor and other sites it has the average starting salary of my position as 5k MORE than what i got.

i feel pretty bummed, in the end it is over a 25k raise but still feel like i left money on the table

this was my chance to get more. i just dont know why both the hiring manager and the HR guy both told me the range was 5-8k less than what i got so i felt like i was getting a good deal.

Did you adjust the glassdoor search for location?

Quit kicking yourself. You can't look back and feel bad, be happy with what you did get. Do a good job and you'll make up the difference.

This. Best of luck in your new job.

It will be interesting to see how your old accounts feel now that you are working for the direct competitor (pros/cons). Feel free to report back.

Thanks guys. Most are for it because I'm doing something better for my career and family. If I bonus well I will do really well. We will see. Just wish I would have gotten that extra $$!

Look to the future. Go earn the money. And, ask HR to show you the range for the position.

The HR guy told me the range and I got above the range but glaasdoor has the average at above even what I got. Also I know that the guys place I'm taking he got more money.

Pretty disappointed but nothing I can do. It's better than no job.

I wouldn't worry about. Salary calculator sites are generally overstated anyway.

Bad move talking to another employee about salary. The best way to lose your job is to talk salary with your peers.
