Ed Donatell and Keith Butler leading candidates?

According to WWL, per a text I just got from my buddy
I know...no link, already a thread
Donatell - SF secondary coach
Butler - Pittsburgh LB coach
Feel free to add this info to the sticky thread. I just figured it would get lost in there. May be nothing to it. May be everything to it.

I would be STUNNED if Butler leaves Pittsburgh. He has turned down jobs in the past already, got a big raise too. He is just waiting on Lebeau to retire.

I like it. Looking at the perennial best D's in the league.

I replied to my buddy "Donatell is a name I'm more familiar with, which leads me to believe Butler would be a better hire"
I wouldn't mind at all hiring a position coach with something to prove. Williams was good for 2009 and a Super Bowl, but no so much the next two years. And Spags...well, we know.

Someone paint me a pretty picture on why this journeyman coach is a good hire. It just doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

I figured Tomsula would be in before Donatell, out of SF position coaches. Also, they haven't be able to interview either, I would guess, so how would this guys "source" have this info?

I don't have a "source". I was just relaying what my buddy told me he heard on WWL. I'm fairly certain he didn't make it up.
Nothing was said about anyone having been interviewed. I'd imagine you'd have to be considered a candidate before getting an interview, no?
I added a ? since there's no link

there's some other new names in the DC radar thread pg 4 that no one has commented on- Jim Leavitt, Ted Monachino, & Billy Davis

I wouldn't mind Tomsula. Relatively young guy with some experience. I'd be happy with that hire.
I've resigned myself to the fact that there are no 3-4 "homerun" defensive coordinators available, so I'd be pretty happy bringing in a young guy with some experience. The defensive version of Sean Payton.
I'd love Butler too, but I just don't see him leaving. Especially since we could be interviewing him now and could have already hired him. Hell, have him down for the Superbowl!

Which thread is that? Never heard of it before.

Coach Sean Payton said the Saints' search for a defensive coordinator will pick up after the Super Bowl.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune has added four more potential candidates to the list: 49ers LBs coach Jim Leavitt, Ravens LBs coach Ted Monachino, Browns LBs coach Billy Davis, and ex-Cowboys DC Rob Ryan. Ryan is obviously the most recognizable name, and he joins Romeo Crennel and Eric Mangini as rumored veteran candidates. The Saints and the Eagles seem to be linked to the same names as they both attempt to transition to the 3-4.

After this past season, I'd settle for a single, or even a base on balls DC.

No joke.
-This a football. You try to tackle the man who carries it. Which brings me to my second point
-This is how you tackle.

if we're gonna grab a no-namer, id like to see us pluck an assistant from a team thats had a perennially strong 3-4 defense.
Some of the names being thrown around show that Loomis and Payton might agree with my brilliance.
To Payton\Loomis: I might consider a position as a defensive consultant.

The reason I posted what I did is because if Sean is saying things should speed up after the Super Bowl then the guy he wants must be one of those two guys coaching in that game. Just Sayin...

I understand that. I'm thinking the same thing as well, because honestly there's a lot of work to be done, but their guy must be held up at the moment.
