We encountered belligerent racists the year we went. It was uncalled for. New Orleans was a much better and more open minded experience.

Yeah sure, bullets and ice picks are better than racial slurs.

Why the hell did your boyfriend move to Mamou?

The responses far are pretty accurate. Crazy times and possibly a few racist dickfaces. Should be a good time if you can handle the craziness

Now you got it.

Anyone who may be going, I'm pretty sure the ride is headed West out of town this year. They alternate routes.

Park in that Piggly Wiggly parking lot. They leave around 8:00 a.m. They come back into town around 3:00 p.m.

Tigergirl, you need to burn a sick day and stick around, it's worth it. You can follow them as they go house to house to catch chickens thrown off of rooftops.

They clean the chickens and make a gumbo for all that evening but few make it. I ran 3 years and never made one.

We've never done NOLA only Lafayette and Mamou. Comparing Mamou to any "Big city" Mardi Gras is like comparing apples to oranges imo but to each his own.

Personally I love the live french music. My grandather played the accordion.

I would love to burn a sick day for it but I had surgery a couple months ago and had to take all but .3 of them lol. I plan to hit the road back to br around 8 that night. I'll be tired as hell the next day but at least I am immune to hangovers!

Haha with 23 kindergarteners I sometimes wish I could!! I'm hoping they will be a little tired from not being on their regular schedule (having time off for Mardi Gras). They are usually pretty subdued the first day back from a holiday but I probably just jinxed myself and they will be wild and crazy!

Realized today that the Piggly Wiggly is on the East side of town. Sorry, it's been a while since I've been.

We used to do the Mamou street dance on Monday night, and come back to Eunice the next day on Fat Tuesday.

Great freaking time. $2.00 can beers and all the food you can drink.

Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys played both days in both locations. Awesome time.
