I have 15 years vested in with her.

At this stage in the game, it's cheaper to keep her.

We brought one home for an overnight stay about two months ago.

Very impressed by it. Just weren't ready to make a decision at that time, plus I know the longer we wait, the more they become readily available, driving down the demand.

they like the view from up high better. Wife, mom, and mother in law all say this. They will never go back to a car.

Ford F-150 (I know it's a truck)

Don't laugh at this. You can get a F-150 super crew tricked out that rides just as good as the SUV and hauls more for about $10k less.
The wife drives a BMW X3 and loves it but she couldn't get over how smooth and quiet the ride in my truck is.

why don't you just show her this list and tell her to pick off it instead? LINK

Unless yall have 4 children or something, it's unlikely she needs anything that seats 7.

I've already told my SO when we buy her car my vote is for the Volvo XC90.... If you've ever ridden with her you'd want her to have the safest SUV on the road too

What is it with women and SUVs?

my wife is the opposite, I tried to get her to look at crossovers/min's but she ended up with a Passat.

I would look at the Hyundai Tuscon as a good compromise...

My fiancé drives a crossover and says the same thing of sitting up higher. Though not as efficient as a sedan it's better than a full SUV. Try talking her into one of those.

So I followed your advice and e-mailed her (she was sleeping at the time) your link.

She wrote me back this morning (I was on a conference call) ... "why are you sending me affordable compact SUVs link? You know I am not interested in those."

She probably didn't even look through the list. My MIL has a 2012 equinox that is loaded and is a great SUV.

My guess is that she already has her mind on a specific car and wants you to guess what it is.

Acura ZDX is my favorite SUV right now.

She probably wants a JGC Limited or Outland.

A new MDX is going to set you back some serious cabbage. Great vehicle, still doesn't get great MPG. If it has to be an SUV the Pathfinder might be a better bang for the buck, but for MPG improvement you have to get the 2013. Mine literally gets 14 in town and 19 max on the highway above 75 mph.

After 12 yrs of Maximas my wife was tired of driving them and now has a turbo German car which she loves to drive. She will drive my Pathfinder as necessary, but would not want to drive one full time.

A family member is on his 3rd MDX, they are great vehicles and hold value pretty well. AWD sticks to the road like glue in the mountains.

Apples/Oranges there. Maxima/Avalon are the same class. Accord/Altima are the same class. Mid size- I'd choose a Hyundai Sonata over the Accord/Altima. Full size, I'd go with the Avalon
