with regards to the Nevin Shapiro investigation?

Also, was it unethical for the NCAA to hire Shapiro's defense attorney in order to gain information?

This whole NCAA investigation is really bizarre.

The NCAA won't do it voluntarily. But if they sense that any punishment issued would be overturned by a court they may back off and only give them minimal punishment.

Shapiro's defense attorney may be facing sanctions--I would guess that most of what he gave them would be considered subject to attorney-client privilege.
