Perculator coffee vs Keurig vs Mr Coffee-drip types...

Does anyone use the perculator anymore? Seems to me I got a much better flavor years ago than I did from the Mr Coffee drippers...closer to the Keurig, but there's still something in the Keurig that is lacking. I love my Keurig, don't get me wrong (and Newman's Own cups) and much prefer it to the drippers, but I don't see perculators available anywhere, and neither do I see the filters available.
I don't have a garbage disposal in my sink so I don't want the mess of a French Press. Tried one; too messy.

Best coffeemaker ever invented.

What's that? My mother used her perculator everyday growing up

I asked the coffee roaster guy at Pearland Coffee Roasters: Pearland Coffee Roasters and he told me that the Percolator was one of the worst types of coffee makers a person could use. It continually burns the coffee or over brews it to some degree. He was adamant about his dislike for it. He didn't care for my French press, but not to the degree of the Percolator.
I don't really think it matters too much. I am not a coffee purist that considers the bean, roast, region...blah, blah, blah.
I am of the opinion that coffee is indeed like wine, as the Pearland place explained to me. For the reason that everyone's preference is different.

Is that a cold brewer that seeps through the filter into the container below? I've heard about those. You make it triple-strength and spoon it into water to the desired level?
I can see how the perculator would burn the coffee...I guess it depends on how long it recirculates it. It's been so long I just don't remember.
I wasn't expecting answers this early in the morning.

A Frenchy at work shows up with that contraption every morning and makes some type of aristocratic brew that led to the French Revolution.....
He is pretty committed to it. He wouldn't touch a pot of Community or Folgers for his life or his French Pride.

No, it works on vacuum. You put the coffee in the top and fill the bottom with water. When the water boils, it gets drawn up into the top where it brews the coffee. Turn the heat off and the brewed coffee returns to the bottom. A glass filter keeps the grounds from getting to the bottom. It keeps the water that touches the coffee just below the boiling point which is the optimum temp for brewing.
At one time almost every restaurant used this brewing system. I used it at home for many years but the glass stem is pretty fragile and you can't readily get replacements any longer.

Start with a campfire and a 20 cup campfire coffee pot. Dump grinds in a clean white cotton sock. Throw in pot add cold water and place on edge of fire. When you run low, add water to pot and coffee to sock. By day three you have incredible coffee. Throw sock away.
I guess young guys no longer have fires to cook coffee.
Yeh I know I'm wrong.
In my life I've had it from a c-ration can, the deck of a tent in Zambia, standing beside a roaster in Pittsburgh, the best restaurants in Europe. And beside the road in Honduras.
It was all good. I have a cup beside me right now - Mr. Coffee drip and not bad at all.
Best ever? Instant Nescafé at 5:30 am beside a hippo pan in Zimbabwe, watching animals watering.
Yeh I know - I have no idea what I'm talking about.

It's like a coffee bong.
FYI: we once had a female friend's boyfriend shacking up in our apartment for a couple months. He broke the inner stem on the glass bong (RIP Catalina
He moved out that day.

THIS! Love my press. Make the mess in the sink. Scoop out the grings in the trash.

We use a percolator. We bring it with us on trips. Community dark only.

I think a percolator makes great coffee too. We have one at the camp, I use it sometimes.

I disagree. Percolators tend to make harsh coffee. For flavor, French Press is the best, but a good drip is not bad . I can't take anyone seriously who uses a Keurig.
