Sometimes you want to allow the easy hitch pass. Pressure isn't always used to create sacks or turnovers, if used correctly, you can also determine what receiver gets the ball.

Belichick is well known for creating a hot route and having a safety/linebacker with flat foot coverage ready to drive down on it.

Yup bud foster ran this bad boy. We also ran this a couple years ago in HS, except we had 2 safeties on the line snd one deep (in cover 2/4 one safety on the line would drop back as the second safety presnap)

Foster switched to the 4-2-5 in 2003, if I'm not mistaken. Patterson has been running the 4-2-5 throughout his head coaching and DC career, going back to the late/mid-90s. He also runs it exclusively as opposed to many others who just use it as part of their overall package.
Also whenever a new defensive system employs the 4-2-5, I've often heard it referred to during in-game commentary just as I did--the defense made famous for its use by TCU under Patterson.

Agreed. When we're playing a power running team, Patterson often uses a third LB and runs it like a de facto 4-3 with the safeties on the opposite side you would expect (FS deep to the strong side, WS stays weak but plays up like a strong safety... it looks pretty weird).
