How popular is "Texas Country" music in Louisiana?

Stoney LaRue, Brandon Jenkins, Randy Rogers, Jason Boland, Wade Bowen, Jack Ingram, Roger Creager, Kevin Fowler, Josh Abbot Band, Casey Donahew Band, Aaron Watson, Bleu Edmonson.....to name a few.
These artists ring a bell with anyone? Their music and popularity have spread like wildfire across Texas and Oklahoma over the past few years.

I haven't heard of any of them, but I don't wear camo, either.

It's big here within the right circles...but most listen to all that pussy shite coming from Trashville

Not popular enough, IMO.
It's kind of a vicious cycle...the bands don't get the same exposure because they don't play there often, but venues are hesitant to book them because people haven't heard of them.
Turnpike Troubadours (you forgot them on your list and they are the best thing happening in TX/Red dirt country right now) are huge fans of the state of Louisiana and would LOVE to play anywhere but they can't get booked. I have it straight from the horse's mouth...any venue to book them in LA, they will play. It's a risk that most booking agents aren't willing to take, regardless of how badass and well-respected Turnpike is.
It's sad.

Just saw them this past week in Steamboat Springs for The Music Fest, and they rocked!

They're awesome and they're some of the best guys I know. LA doesn't know what it's missing with those dudes.

I could get them booked at a bar about 15 minutes from my house at literal anytime with as little of a couple daysnotice.
They may play to 20 people and a coondog but they could play
I have a feeling itd be a decent crowd for the place though pretty much everyone around here is listening to them now.
But to answer the OP texas country is way bigger in north louisiana than south louisiana. Its pretty much what most of the college aged crowd around here goes for (well the ones who care enough to dig deeper than your top 40 charts at least).
Its either jam bands or texas country around here.

not even a little. It's practically unknown in SE Louisiana

Go to northeast LA and everyone that is in the target demographic for texas country will at least know who Cross Canadian Ragweed, Chris knight, Jason Boland, REK and Randy Rogers are.
Not many people who keep up with whats happening in the scene but a shite ton of people at least know about it and enjoy it.

Like, just started listening to him regularly?
Or just now hearing about him and listened to him for the first time?
If the latter...... how in the frick is that even possible?

kind of a combination. i'd heard of him but not really known his music or anything. but i knew a few of his songs, just didn't know they were r.e.k.
he's not very popular where i live (all trashville fans) and i am young too.

Do it! They have a guarantee so they get paid regardless of how many people show up (which is why it's a risk to book them...people don't come, the venue loses it's arse). I think RC probably likes corndogs, something tells me he'd be okay with that arrangement.

Untrue about Turnpike Troubadours in LA. I talked to the other Hogs founder, not BlackenedOut, who books the music and he said he tried to book TT for this year's Hogs and they couldn't do it. Said they couldnt play LA until June earliest. That was a convo in November when he was telling me bands that def werent playing.
That being said, i'd love to see them here....

+1. It's pretty popular amongst my friend group. I'd love to see Turnpike Troubadours in BR at some point this year.
