state programs still enrolling for another week...which are 3 times more expensive and only cover you for ~65k....you have to pay 10k in premiums and then they will only cover to 75k per/year.

Just from what I've seen, any Hospital that I'd want to go to is covered.

You didn't read what I said.

I know there are boatloads on the lists.

Go there and actually try becoming a patient.

If it's a hospital, you'll sit for days before being seen.

If it's a Dr, they are almost 100% guaranteed to have already reached the maximum # of patients they can carry on whatever your states "Obamacare/Medicare" is.

I know this story from first hand knowledge. I've seen it happen 100 times already.

I pay $238 for BCBS of Alabama.. $750 deductible, $30 copay for office visits, $250 deductible for CT scans/xrays/some blood work... Not a bad gig IMO.

Last night you said all doctors ever do is tell you to quit smoking and drinking. You seem to have changed your opinion today.

What are the drawbacks to this PCIP program?

Hmm there is the fact that it's a massive expansion of an already too large federal government.

Oh yea, and the fact that Obamacare is going to add, an estimated, $6.2 trillion to the deficit. And that is assuming that the GAO didn't lowball the cost like every other estimate for a federal program has. For example, when Medicare was passed it was estimated that by 1990 the program would only cost $12 billion, yet in reality it cost over $100 billion.

That is not insurance. That is welfare.

My insurance is a $1500 deductible HSA, 90/10, 3k max out of pocket, no limits, and I don't pay monthly premiums.

Woohoo for awesome employers!

They also pay dental. They do make me pay $8/month for vision. Bastards.

Yes I do and no I have never been denied health insurance based on my Muscular Dystrophy. My mom has Polio and has never been denied coverage based on it either.

eta: And ftr, I think that insurance companies should be able to deny whoever they want for whatever reason they want. I also think that if they want to charge someone an arm and a leg because they have a pre-existing condition that will cost the insurance company hundreds of thousands of dollars they should be able to do that as well.

The idea that someone can go without insurance until they get diagnosed with something and THEN seek out health insurance is absurd. It's not ok to drive around without car insurance, get in a wreck, then purchase car insurance and ask them to pay for the damages. So why do people think that is ok to expect coverage for a condition that arose before you were insured?

That is, until they are forced to in order to maintain there medical license.

If we need FedGov to compel compliance as a condition of having a license to practice medicine, then, so be it.

All medical licensing procedures need to be Federalized. Get rid of the state licensing process entirely. Let FedGov run the show.

update: got out of hospital yesterday 100% cured of my heart issue.(all gone, they checked, it's over)

there was an issue getting in to see doc for procedure but that was on my end. Brother and sister graduations, so I postponed procedure til after their stuff was over.

5 hour surgery, 4 hours of monitoring, brought me I think the best turkey sandwich I ever had when I came to(16 hours since last meal), and 2 cranberry juice boxes.

In and out(6am to 6pm), one day, walked the dogs twice today logging in over 2 miles. went and bought groceries, washed dishes, and making shrimp and corn bisque for the first time tonight with a bottle of Malbec.

I hit my yearly max out of pocket

quote:

For 2013, the maximum you will pay out-of-pocket for covered services in a calendar year is $3,125

and only $274/month...but I think it all ends in December when I have to find private insurance because the GOV says that they can't decline me anymore
