I remember when my dad took my sister driving for the first time before she took drivers ed... My sister gets behind the wheel and says "which pedal does what?" I was 6 years old and said "let me out of the car now."
Has anyone seen drivers who use both feet? My mother uses her left foot for the brake and her right for for the gas. Even though my father and I have explained to her forever that this is stupid as hell, she still does it and is actually an excellent driver. She drives fast and zips through traffic, but she's never been in a wreck and she never makes me nervous.
My ex-gf was the nervous type but I couldn't blame her as she had been in a bad wreck before by running a stop sign that was obscured from view. I just never let her drive unless there was some specific reason I couldn't, or she'd drive me nuts.

Good point. My gf has been in 2 pretty bad wrecks which actually weren't her fault. That makes her all nervous at the wheel.

Not necessarily. Situational awareness is paramount, and up to a point that doesn't have much to do with speed. A professional driver can drive safely in a manner that most people would regard as reckless - simply b/c he is more skilled.
I would much rather ride with someone who dodges and weaves 10mph faster than surrounding traffic and knows where everyone is, than with someone cruising serenely at the posted limit who doesn't check his mirrors unless he has to.

To add insult to injury, not only was it technically her fault for accidentally running the stop sign, but she had a brand new car and for some stupid reason her mother didn't get full coverage on it. It was totaled and uninsured. A brand new car.
