Give me some good albums from the past couple of years to download. My favorite bands are Radiohead, Black Keys, Arcade Fire and My Morning Jacket. Not looking for mainstream stuff, prefer indie stuff or music from lesser known bands.
TIA

The Fratelli's Costello Music
QOTSA's anything (start with Songs for the Deaf)
Early 80s stuff:
Argybargy and Eastside Story by Squeeze
The four albums above are consistently great throughout.
Also, I've got Mr. Bungle's California cd coming in the mail. I'm pretty excited about it.

already have the Japandroids, not a big fan of The National, I've tried.
Have heard Girls and really dig their sound, may buy that album. Thanks for the suggestions, our music taste is pretty similar, what are your thoughts on the new Grizzly Bear album?

I really reccomend giving Two Door Cinema Club's album "Tourist History" a shot, I think you'd like it, theyre one of if not my favorite indie groups and I love every song on that album.

lesser known bands- shite here we go
eva cassidy - live at blues alley
to me its the best live performance by a FEMALE PERIOD. shes dead and some of her stuff is hard to come by esp on vinyl. a film of her life staring robert redford, kirsten dunst, emma watson should be out in feb 2013.
bon iver - for emma, forever ago
when it rains just press play and let the album roll. have wine handy.
trading yesterday - more then this. so the lead singer is legit he wrote most of evanescence stuff...he got a grammy...and made his own band that got signed and then it went down hill and the record company kept the bands name. the name has changed like 3 times. and so has the sound. more then this is prob one of the best not so popular albums i prob know. and no they dont sound anything like evanescence.
micheal henry and justin robinett - these guys sing covers. many people do. and many suck. they dub down every song thats fast paced to a slow kept beat and only using a few instruments. i wouldnt say by an album. but i would deff stop by there stuff. some songs that major artist do these guys do diffrently and on occasions...its better.and they both have degrees and now due to the success on itunes, covers is there full time job.
the lumieers - this band touches a lot of stylistic play. theres a lot of variety and most times it makes you want to be with your friends..... drinking, and laughing. some say if its undiscovered and its good on vinyl then you should deff have it on itunes.
the joy formidable - theres slowly coming into mainstream light. if you havent heard of them then there not there yet. sall them live and i was like " who the frick is this ". they did way better then dropkick murphys live. not that there music is alike in anyway.
morning parade - buy the newset album. they just got signed but there being brushed to the side. they just walked off the leno show and i think there coming around. go to utube type in burrberry acoustic speechless by morning parade need i say more.
just for starts

Have you heard the sheepdogs? One of the black keys guys produced their new record. Pretty solid rootsy rock n roll. Dude has a great voice.

already got a little BJL, good stuff.
also digging Alt-J's album, on first listen the dude's voice annoyed me but after listening a while it's grown on me and the music/beats are fantastic.
