Yeah, I know there are other threads on the movie but deal with it.

I was disappointed. It was pretty obvious going in (from the previews and the opening scene) that the kids were being put in a controlled environment where horrible shite was going to happen to them. I expected that. It's just that the payoff was so lame. fricking ancient gods under the earth? Really?

It would have been so much better had it actually been a reality tv show as Walt thought at one point. Or if it turned out to be the way that Hollywood makes horror movies. So much more could have been done with those concepts. But ancient gods ending the earth? Bleh.

Although I did like the merman killing Bradley Whitford.

The entire movie is a metaphor that uses a ton of symbolism, ancient Gods included.

I enjoyed the movie and the message it was trying to convey. Loved the similarities between the massacre of that movie and the similar parts of Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Gods are a metaphor for us, the audience.

The characters trying to appease the gods represents hollywood trying to appease the viewers.

I think you may have missed the point of the movie.

It appears that I may have, and that's embarrassing because I enjoy movies a lot. Especially those with a subtext or even entirely metaphorical.

Maybe I was tired and it was late and didn't pay close enough attention for it to dawn on me.

ETA: Does give the movie more credibility. I must have been overfed and drunk. Plus in an out of the room.

the movie was terrible and a piece of shite. its amazing how many threads they are on here calling it Citizen Kane.

Apparently we arent alone in thinking that. when my wife and I saw it in theaters about 15 people walked out, Ive never seen that many people do that.

also as the group of us left the theater and went in the lobby i overheard at least 3-4 people saying how it was one of the worst movies they've ever seen.

its not for everyone and yes i get it, i got the point of the movie, i just thought it sucked

Agreed. The movie was frickin awful. Felt like an a-hole when I told my girlfriend how great it was supposed to be and it sucked. Had to watch several of her "choices " after that TD frick up

Well even metaphorically, the movie went a bit off the rails toward the end. Too much of what it was attempting to parody.

I got the ending and the reason for doing it. But in this day and age of movies that was a cop out ending. I mean come on, you can't put even a little more effort into it than a big hand? Tainted an otherwise very cool movie to me

it's kind of funny that since it didn't end the way you wanted, you then criticize the concept of the ancient gods, who were upset the way the movie within the movie ended...

i thought the VERY end was kind of weak, but the absurdity of the monster melee was awesome and fun as hell

Further demonstrating my retardation on the subject, what was the "raping tree" reference?
