Who cares? Why don't you become a Browns fan? They are in the top 10 in wins overall and have 4 NFL titles.

How many NFL championships have the Giants, the Packers, the Patriots, the Baltimore Colts, and the Steelers won? Not just Superbowl wins, but, NFL Championships going back to the days before the SB. The Indy Colts have only won one league championship, so, I don't refer to them.

We want to be like Green Bay. Green Bay has the most NFL Championships in the history of the league. We want sustained excellence over the course of decades.

That's why the FO and coaches need to get to work. They have done some wonderful things for the Saints, but, they need to demand sustained excellence.

I believe that Coach Payton agrees with this perspective.

No idea why I am responding to your dumbass but I feel obligated to do.

quote:

What is the W/L record today of the New Orleans Saints?

7-9

quote:

Isn't it mediocre?

Yes, it is. A depleted team that went through unprecedented punishments. Lost head coach for the season, lost second line of command for the first 6. Lost GM, and several other distractions.

quote:

What is the W/L record of this franchise since 1967?

306-395-5

quote:

Is it one of the superior franchises in NFL history?

Of all time? No The Cowboys are second all time in wins, but they haven't been relevant in 20 years. We are in the now, not the past.

Sean Payton is 69-43 as the Saints head coach, and in the previous three seasons he went 41-11, which was the most in the NFC during the time period. In that Span he won 4 playoff games, 2 division titles, and a Superbowl. In 2006 he led the Saints to a NFC Championship game in his first year.

quote:

If I am an Owner or Head Coach, my objective is to build a superior NFL franchise -- a Dynasty of Conference and Super Bowl Championships.

The parity of the NFL these days does not allow such a thing. Even the Patriots haven't won a Superbowl in a long time. They have had a lot of success, but have also been in a division with week competition. The Steelers have won 2 Superbowls in recent memory, yet they have missed the playoffs a few times as well. You dream of a dynasty is not only ridiculous, but completely unrealistic. The success we've had recently has been seen from very few teams. The Saints are now a respected organization that has fielded the greatest offense of all time (statistics prove this), and have won a shite ton of games. All you can ask for is a chance, and we've had that.

quote:

We are mediocre compared to where we want to be.

We were 13-3 last season, we broke the all time yards record for an offense, and shattered other records along with it. Once again, this year deserves an asterisk. The defense needs improvement, and lots, and this will all be addressed in the draft and free agency.

quote:

I don't want Saints Fans to stop being proud of the team or to stop loving the Saints. I am speaking from the perspective of what the Professionals running the franchise should be thinking.

Any true Saints fan is and always will be proud of this team, and we are especially proud of the people running the franchise for finally making us relevant after years of being the laughing stock of the NFL.

quote:

We Saints fans can be happy with our team right now. Fine. There's lots to be happy about. But the Pros running the team? The head coach and the FO? They should be absolutely disgusted and extremely angry and dissatisfied

No one is happy with this season, in fact it's opposite. The head coach and FO have done a remarkable job over the years, and I assure you they are disgusted. However, I trust them to fix problems. I also know the this season was a fluke, and next year we will get back on track.

quote:

And I don't take it personal that lots of fans want to bash me right now. I understand the desire to defend the home team.

Ok, so stop sounding foolish

I never said that.

My ONLY complaints about the Saints team, franchise, whatever, begins and ends with the defense and why they're consistently terrible.

Yeah, so the franchise who led the league in victories over the last 3 seasons going into this season, is so mediocre.

I'd love to see the Browns win again. It's sad to see such a storied franchise do so badly for so long.

If the people running this team aren't smart, the Saints could end up exactly like the Browns -- minus the FOUR league titles, since, we only have one. If that happens, then you and I will BOTH be "Browns fans".

I don't want that to happen.

This franchise has a losing record for this season.

You may be satisfied with where we are, but, I am not, and, I'll bet that Coach Payton is neither happy nor satisfied with where the Saints are right now as a franchise. I'll bet that he is PISSED OFF.

I'm talking about recently. What happened in the 50's, 60's and 70's amounts to jack shite today.

Since 2006 the Saints are one of the most successful franchises in the league. That's a fact.

How in the frick do you expect it to ever get to a winning record? You win mother fricking games! And with Payton they have won a shite load of them. How hard is this for you to grasp? It takes time.

Why should I worry myself about how shitty the team was for the first 40 years of their existence? Does that discount the progress that has been made the last 6 years?

It's not worth arguing any more, Craig Biggio. This guy just doesn't seem to understand. I caught a foul ball of yours once, have a nice day.

I trust Coach Payton and I believe he is disgusted. The HC and FO should also be angry with themselves for failing to build a quality NFL defense. I believe that they are.

The team is bad this season. I understand your rationalizations. They make sense. But, don't make excuses for these professionals. You sound foolish to make excuses for NFL professionals.

As for the overall history of this franchise, the win/loss record for both regular season and post-season are both losing records. It's not foolish to conclude that this is a mediocre historical record of accomplishment.

Yes, this FO, these coaches and some of these players have done some wonderful things since 2005. I can give them props for what they've done well, and at the same time, identify what they have failed to do well.

This is irrelevant to anything the organization is trying to accomplish currently.

This franchise has a losing record for this season.

And your point is? The entire organization went through a sequence of events this calendar year that NO team has gone through in the history of the NFL. If you can't see how that effected the outcome of this season then you need to stick your dick in a meat grinder.

The fact that the organization has tied down the two most intricual personalities responsible for the Saints success over the last several years, speaks against the rubbish you are spewing. Not only have they tied them down with contracts but those contracts have made Payton & Brees the highest paid at their respected positions.

It was a must that both Brees & Payton maintain onboard to keep the arrow pointing in the right direction. If taking care of your most valuable assets isn't something top notch organizations do then I don't know what else they can do to please people like you. People like you expect championships just to fall from the sky.

Is this a mediocre football team this year? - yes, considering the success this team has had recently but to totally generalize this franchise, in the context of the pitiful history before the recent success, is a stretch.

Exactly the point I am trying to make, and you guys haven't been relevant in a very long time. He can be a fan of a team on a downward slope that has been going on for years and years, or bitch about a team that has had recent success and steadily improved their overall record.

We don't have a time machine, we can't go back to that time and change things. We can only continue to go in the right direction as a team, and since Payton has been coach that has happened.

Come on Champagne, I thought you were better than this...how many championships does Atlanta have?? And we could just as easily be right back in contention next year for another championship. The D will be adjusted this off season, as much as $$ & cap will allow. Keep the faith man, I know you are a long time fan, like myself. I have been around since the 1967 season, THAT was a poorly run team for years...

They should have gotten rid of 33 year old breesus and instead used all of that money to lure some world class speed on defense, and world class power on the offensive and defensive lines. You hear me Saints?
