That's not how good NFL franchises roll, and the Saints are NOT one of the "good" franchises. It's a mediocre record overall with a bright spot in 2009.
How many teams have had better stretches than we have since 2006?
Definitely better:
Giants (who, by the way, have won 2 SBs but frequently looked like shite between)
Steelers
MAYBE better:
Colts (even though we beat them head to head in the SB, I'll give them the edge)
Packers
So, at most, 4 out of 31 teams would prefer their own outcomes over the past 6 seasons to what we accomplished.

The FO has shown NO ability to put ALL of the pieces in place to build a franchise that will consistently win playoff game, after playoff game, over the course of a decade
Playoff appearances in 06, 09, 10 and 11. Wins in all appearances but 10.
Only teams I can think on that level of success in that time frame are NE, BAL, Indy, Pitt, NYG and GB.

10.5 wins per year over the last five (including the ONLY NFL season without a head coach) is NOT the product of a mediocre franchise.

This is a bad football team and a mediocre franchis
your title makes no sense. 7 and 9 isn't bad. and a team that has quite a few wins in the playoffs and a SB since 06 is not a bad team... and it's one of the most valuable franchises

I'm sorry, we might not be "superior."
Does that make us "mediocre?"
Please, someone answer me.

The Saints organization has been lauded as being a first class organization by players and coaches (current and former).
The team, this year, has been a poor one, but I fully expect 10+ wins next year with Payton back

Amazing
30ppg and 400 yards every week. Offense's fault for not being all time great...
Welcome to the NFL where your offense shouldn't have to score 8 million points to win. 30ppg should get the job done without a carnival show on defense.
Meh that nfl is becoming a distant memory. Multiple, multiple times this season the offense has gone on a sustained hiatus only to pad stats late in the game. Often times how and when you score those points tells the tale of the game.

There aren't enough synonyms of the word stupid to describe the OP. you could say the pats were lucky to get belichick and Brady. If this, if that. If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.

This post has been bookmarked.
This is what he posted in the Falcons thread:
quote:
Yeah, they are stupid. Dimitroff and Smith, in five years, built up a roster on both sides of the ball -- a roster good enough to get the 1 seed twice in five years -- and they are stupid. Yeah. Meanwhile in the same five years, the Saints roster is slightly improved on O and horribly awful on D.
In his mind, a team that is 0-3 in the PO since 2006 is > a team that is 5-3 in the PO with a SB win.

Talk about knee-jerk reactions.
We have a bad season for OBVIOUS reasons and suddenly we're a "mediocre" franchise.
Champagne, you can absolutely go frick yourself.

ikr
Since 2006, Payton/Brees first season in New Orleans.. No other team in the entire fricking NFL had more wins than the Saints heading into this year.
OP wrap your little brain around that dumbass.

You simply can't watch the Saints this year, or the past 7 years for that matter, and decide offense is where the problems are
