Too hard to answer that. Too many variables.

If you are wanting the smaller one, that is anything '77 and prior. If im not mistaken the '76 and '77 had power steering and brakes, so i would aim for those 2 years and with the 302.
ETA: anything after '73 had the option for power steering.

I had an '91 Eddie Bauer Bronco that ran great.

I got t boned by a broad in a Buick Roadmaster.

I walked away, but she totaled the frame.

I loved that truck.

i had to make some deviled eggs and take a nap...

op, the broad answer is 77 and prior..
some of the models in the 60's, earliest one was 66 are pretty cool, but very spartan..
there were different rear ends, in different models, factory air, auto trans, 3 on the column, on the floor, auto on floor, dual tanks, light and trim packages, etc... I've had about 3 74's and a 76... My 76 owners manual was only about 12 pages thick.. lol
my all time fav would probly be a 76 half cab..

A buddy had the 76 half cab. Had a big lift kit, 33 gumbo monster mudders, winch, KC's, dual glass packs...one badass rig.

77 by far. Last year of the Early Broncos but came with several features of the 78 and up

Dana 44, power steering, gas cap lids, power brakes. But so many have been redone that now you can find most all of those things on earlier than 77's. I wished Id never sold my early Bronco. Either of them actually. Word to the wise. Unless you are very very mechanically gifted get one that's already redone. Parts are pretty steep , but the labor costs on redoing one are like giraffe coochie
They're fairly simple machines to work on though. A lot like a 4 wheeler on steroids. Very first thing you do is sign up on ClassicBroncos.com. Those guys are super and know broncos inside and out
