Was the hit on Vernon Davis really that vicious?

He's out with a concussion, and NBC is calling it a vicious hit every chance they get. He hit him in the chest. Come the frick on

It was a very hard hit. So I'd say vicious in that manner. But not outlandish hit that should have a suspension attached to it

The NFL has to realize sometimes you cant prevent concussions.

I am failing to see how he even got a concussion on that play. It was a very hard hit, but his helmet never touched the defenders helmet, nor did his helmet touch/slam on the ground. Weird.

Extreme wiplash can cause concussions. Which looks like what happened to Davis.

I didn't see that play, but I am assuming they threw a flag on it? I hate watching what the NFL has become. Big legal hits have been completely eliminated from the game by making it a judgement call for the refs.

BTW that hit led to an incomplete pass, but a penalty, which went to 3rd down later than a FG try that was blocked and returned for a touchdown.

Guys that are seeing it for the first time, wait until you see it in real-time! It was lighting fast. Defender came out of picture and left everyone speechless.
