What's the story behind Starvation Landing (Madisonville, LA)?

The place on the outside of Madisonville, LA at the hwy 21 and 1077 split.
I used to get bait from there. It was something else before that and has been through a couple of changes since it was a bait shop.
Anyone know about it's history?

It was a snowball shop before Isaac, doesn't look like it is anything now

There's tomatoes being sold, but not inside.
It went from something to bait shop to something to bait shop to something then snowballs (it seems) then to nothing?

Flood got the inside of the place during Isaac, I believe. The post office had several feet of water in it just across the way.

Yeah. I figured that. It's sitting right on that canal/bayou.
Do you know more of its deeper history though?

I figured that's what you were reaching for, but I can't help with that aspect of it.
