I know Bball recruits don't get a lot of flair on this board, but I just wanted to give and update for some of you that keeps up with it. I believe Victor has finally turned the corner and is starting to turn into a leader and is playing more aggressively.

Craig Victor, free throw shooting lift St. Augustine to 69-66 victory against East St. John

quote:

Victor scored a game-high 28 points, pulled down nine rebounds and blocked two shots

He's averaging damn near a double double every game even with teams clogging the paint and trying to force St. Aug to beat them on the perimeter. I've been impressed with his development this year. Damn near every game he is scoring 40-50% of St. Aug's scoring output. That's very impressive with teams sagging in the paint and keying on him every game.

Haven't seen him play in a few years, has he developed any perimeter skills?

If you're asking can he shoot from the outside, yes he can. If you're asking can he take people off the dribble and create like J. Martin, no he's not that type of player. If forced to, I think he can create his own shot if needed, but his strength is his shooting and play in the paint. I really see him evolving into a David West type player while in college, but he will have a stronger inside presence than West.

Hopefully he's high on LSU. I think we offered the Magee kid at Helen Cox as well for the '14 class. So we could potentially be getting a PF and PG from the NOLA metro area in '14. Not sure how many spots we'll have for that class, but when was the last time we got 2 kids from NOLA metro in the same class?

they are different types of players. you can't compare the two in my opinion. Victor is an inside player whereas Martin strong suit is playing on the wing. if Victor ends up at LSU the two will complement each other well

Not saying he will end up at LSU, it was good when Martin committed. I've mentioned this before on here.

Are they boys? He has to be impressed with Mickey and Quarterman as well I would think.

"Are they boys? "

Hammond will more than all of us, but I have heard that they are very close. Have also heard from those that have recruited Martin that he (Martin) has stated that they would like to play together.

We shall see how it all plays out.

I thought Victor joined the football team halfway through the season.
