1) Before there was a Burbank Drive, the woods off of GSRI Rd that Burbank runs right thru was one of our fav hunting spots. Big arse Fox Squirrels, Woodcock in the fields at dusk and Deer as well.

2) The old Army Depot near Choctaw and N. Sherwood was a place we would sneak in and slaughter Robins by the 100's. The Army Jeep would come chase us back over the fence.........

There has always been a lot of wild game in and around BR........still is........

I parked on Nicholson. There was a pocket of oaks that very few knew about. Killed many a Fox squirrel before the posted signs went up.

Used to hunt between Nicholson and Burbank basically from Dean Lee to GSRI. Also hunted the LSU property that butta up to Riverbend for a couple of years. I got a smoking deal, so I had no choice but to hunt them

Buddy used to live right there across the train tracks on Pecue from that field. We hunted rabbits, dove and the occasional Pouldeaux from that canal if we had our 22 autos on us.

Across Greenwell Springs Rd, behind Jerry Lee's, we used to camp back around the Borrow Pits along the Comite River. Wood Ducks at roost time and head lighting Rabbits............

Before they actually built homes in the back of the subdivision we would just pull up in the truck, pop out a lawn chair and shoot doves coming over the tree line.

Did this when I was a kid, ride my 4 wheeler to the back of the new subdivisions and put a hurting on the doves. All houses in those spots now

Nicolson down about 10-12 miles from campus. Surprised we didn't go to jail b/c only one of us had hunters orange on and I only had a TX hunting license

Suffice to say, my "friend" who suggested this area did not have the stroke with the landowner he thought he did. We all got ticketed, but nothing seized (thankfully) including my truck.

We hunted near BREC Riverside park behind the neighborhood off Brightside. We had to park in a vacant lot and jump a ditch. I think we were trespassing because that was the only way into those woods that wasn't posted back in the mid-80s. Never got in trouble and killed some awesome red fox squirrels back there. Us NOLA kids were impressed with any squirrel that wasn't a regular gray squirrel.

We also hunted along Bayou Fountain behind one of the Highland road neighborhoods (Fulwar Skipwith street?) Tons of rabbit, squirrels and wood ducks back there.

We knew we shouldn't have trespassed and only got fussed at a few times. Back then "getting away with it" was part of the thrill of the hunt.

Burbank by Lee Dr. Use to slaughter the rabbits and Nicholson used to hammer the doves.

I learned to duck hunt as a kid on Spanish lake. Hated to see us lose that. I would rent a canoe with my dad back in 1984 and we would paddle out to the flats and limit out on wood ducks in the blink of an eye. One of my fondest memories hunt with my dad was Spanish Lake.

I killed an 8 pt in the woods off Bluebonnet and hammered the doves in a field at the end of Port Drive (GSRI area). This was in the early eighties.

Killed a few deer and a TON of squirrels off Frenchtown Rd before I moved out of Louisiana. Is central even considered BR anymore?
