I keep reading about a new "assault weapons ban" and the ties to the Newtown CT murders. However I also read the shooter left his AR-style weapon in the car and the killings were done with pistols.
What gives? Did he use the AR or did it stay in the car? Is the "assault weapons ban" proposal going to include pistols as well? Or is this "use of the AR-style gun" just a media ploy to get liberal dumbasses whipped into a frenzy and gather support?

Probably not the first time around, but it will be up next I imagine

It is definitely that

I would say your second thought. It is all about whipping up the frenzy and that is already in full swing......
Tougher gun laws? How about tougher nut job, monkeyass crazy profiling procedures? How about parents actually connecting with their kids and learning about them a bit more?

it will be the same ban that Clinton did 20 or so years ago.
the ban expired after 10 years under Bush. the ban was on "AR" style rifles and mini sub machine guns.

The medical examiner said in the press conference that of the several children he did an autopsy on all were shot and killed by the AR. In addition, all of the children had been shot 3 or more times.

i agree 100%
why would the mother show her "mentally unstable" son how to shoot a weapon of this magnitude?
and why weren't the weapons in a locked safe that only she knew the combination to?

monkeyass crazy profiling procedures
he didn't purchase the weapon so in this case, a screening process wouldn't have mattered.

i know you are kidding, but i surely don't want to pay more for ammo than we already pay.
a box of hunting bullets for my rifle is $40 and that's on the low end of the spectrum.
i may see the same box cost me $80 next year.

I definitely saw a snapshot of the AR sitting in the trunk of the car. No idea why they would've taken it from him and put it back in the car, but I saw it there

The other aspect of this is the large magazines. If a shooter has to reload to change weapons, their ability to continue the assault is interrupted briefly. That gives people a chance to stop it. Large clips and AR style weapons will be restricted, just as they were under the Brady Bill.
Anyone who thinks that bullheaded opposition from the NRA will stop this movement is crazy. The situation needs to be managed and limited to military hardware and we will be ok. I said this the other day and was basically branded a Communist. If you fail to view this situation in a state of reality, you will be branded as one with the crazys.
Also, the mother of the shooter was stockpiling weapons for the "inevitable social collapse." She also taught her kids how to use the weapons. This lady is just like many of us. Please, keep your guns locked up properly.

She was trying to teach him to respect firearms and gain some confidence, doesn't make her a horrible and shitty parent IMO. Can you imagine how hard it would be to have your child committed because you thought they were so mentally ill they would do something like this??

Yeah, she definitly is in the wrong here. There is no excuse for anyone with a mentally ill child not to have their weapons under lock and key. I can't agree with the thought that she shouldn't have taught the kid how to handle a weapon safely, but never ever should those guns been in a place that he could get to them without her knowledge

we are all Monday QBing this thing and i have no idea how i would act if one of my kids turns out this way.
but i would like to think there are other things out there that I can help my troubled kid with than firearms.

US News Report
In this link they say he used a Bushmaster AR on the kids, the only time he used the pistol was to off himself, and left a shotgun in the car.

I thought the gun left in the vehicle was a shotgun?

Mental kid with no physical or mental pain? Then why did he off himself? He knew something bad was coming his way
Posted on 12/18/12 at 11:19 am to hashbrowns
If he had used a mini 14 would we still be looking at the AWB?
