I hit up Oklahoma Joe's BBQ when I was there and it rocked.

Go check the Ulterior Epicure. Great food writer who lives in KC. LINK

I want to say he recently had a places to go in my hometown. He was also on the Bourdain No Reservations Kansas City episode.

Kind of need some more info to get an idea of what you're looking for but...

BBQ- I recommend Oklahoma Joe's or LC's. Arthur Bryant's and Gates are the famous BBQ joints, but I think most who know will agree that Oklahoma Joe's is better.

Holes in the wall-Peanut for wings. Small bar but they have awesome wings. Serve them whole, not wingettes. Peanut. A good burger is Westport Flea Market. Westport is the more eclectic part of town near The Plaza. Flea Market

The Plaza is cool for shopping and upscale restaurants. Houston's is one on my all-time faves. I know it's a chain, but it's always great. The one in KC is the best I've been to. Fogo de Chao across the street from Houston's if you like Brazillian Steakhouses. Plaza III is one of the best steakhouses in the country.

Get the burnt ends at jack stacks.

The burgers are pretty good at the Westport flea market too.
