You got it together? Just saw your post from the other day and was coming to say I could put it together this weekend if you still needed.

Glad you got it together, now go shoot it.

I will need another lower put together soon since next on my list is an 11.5" AR w/Stabilizing Brace before the ATF starts classifying them as SBRs

I don't want you to feel obligated; Only if you would like to do it for a case of beer.

Sounds like a new nickname for some of the OT regulars...

If you put a Sig Stabilizing brace instead of a buttstock on a AR upper, it is officially considered a pistol and not a SBR

LINK

You can use the brace as the stock

Will that work with a standard LPK? I have 2 lowers and 2 Daniel Defense LPKs in my safe. Thinking I'll go this route with one of them. Thanks

Does the upper still need to be a certain length? I've never looked into the minimum on SBRs

Yep, only think different is the stabilizing brace and buffer

Any length...10.5 seems to be the most common though.

The sig brace:

Make sure you use a lower which was labeled as firearm, other, pistol, or is sbr'rd. you cannot take a lower that is labeled a rifle or was at any point in its life a rifle and us a shorter than 16" overall barrel length. The ATF believes once a rifle, always a rifle.

Use a KAK industries buffer tube for the brace, it has a larger outside diameter to give the brace a tighter fit.

You can use a vfg on a pistol with oal of 26". Afg on any pistol.

I have a brace I use when SBR stamps are jail (while I'm waiting).

I lot of people like the pistol because in their state they can cArry then loaded in their car and be legal, no loaded rifles. The brace serves a great purpose and sig stuck it to the ATF. It's no going any where anytime soon.

Personally, I like 10.3" carbine length gas port barrels for my sbr's. You may run into issues with shorter barrels with gas ports closer to the bcg. Any issue though can be fixed. However, velocity is killed. I hit steel at 200 with ease with a 10" sbr, favorite 5.56 ar, period.

How do you determine this? There are no markings indicating that on my lowers or my receipt.

Noted. Thanks.
