So @JayGlazer who is the closest media member to Sean Payton says Payton is "keeping his options open". Bad news Saints fans. Very bad news.

This was from a tweet from Derek Pomansky. TIFWIW

Old news. But it's neither good news nor bad news. It's pretty much standard operating procedure.

If you're going to negotiate a new contract, you need leverage.

Well thank you kind sir. We need to remember the Brees negotiations, where reports came out that he was willing to sit out the year. I really didn't think he would, but the threat had to be there.

We moved there when I was 11 (I'm 30 now) and it wasn't of anything. Every time I go back there I recognize it less and less, except that there's still some of the same people working at the Wal Mart.

I conduct Security Clearance Background checks for military personnel and do interviews in this area once a week as well as other Gulf Coast areas.

I would love to buy a house in Crestview but that ride on Hwy 85 is too damn dangerous for me everyday. You can buy a nice house for half the price that you would in FWB.

Oh I completely understand. I totally see this as creating as much leverage for Payton inorder to drive up his value even more. I don't see how his value can get any higher though as seeing how this year's Saints team, especially the offense, has performed without his presence. His value just because of that has skyrocketed through the roof but I really can't fault him for trying to squeeze every dollar out of a new contract. It's the American way. Plus his child support & alimony must be astronomical at this point. "Tards" are unable to see that though. They are going to bombardard this thread with doom & gloom like this.........

Just because he's showed his value doesn't mean Benson is eager to pay it. From Benson's point of view he already had a deal that was agreed to by both parties. The league voided the contract over a termination option, not something effecting salary.

Do you honestly believe that Benson hasn't noticed how valuable Payton is after this disaster so far this season? Do also realize how much the organizations net worth has grown since both Brees & Payton became part of it?

Letting Payton walk because of he & his agent's asking price is "too high" would be a bad business as well as a bad football move. Benson didn't become a billionaire off of builting a career on bad business decisions. Paying a little more in an invest which basically Payton is, is smart business plain & simple. With Payton on board & with Brees as QB, this team will be in the title hunt for the next 3-5 years. More playoffs & possible championships means growth for the net worth of the franchise. This was the case with Brees' contract & it will be the same with Payton's deal. With how Benson has been spending money the last few years, I find it hard to believe he would spend it here as well in the situation with Payton.
