I was just out at my property with my wife and son. We played with the dogs, visited with my dad and brother. Swept the shop.....just another evening like most. Baby was in a good mood and played with just about everything from his wagon to some dead house plants. Had a big time. On the way home he fell asleep and I carried him inside on my shoulder. As I was rocking him in the recliner I thought, there's a bunch of momma and daddies up north that ain't getting to rock their baby tonight.

So here's the tough question. If you could give up all your guns and never touch another one to bring just one of those babies home to its momma and daddy tonight, would you do it?

i might do it, my kids are grown and gone.... BUT, this world is a different place now.. Giving up your defense still affects more than just you.

Absolutely. I couldn't wish the death of a child on my worst enemy.

I hear ya Geauxt. But looking at this baby, I would do it in a minute and deal with the consequences later.

It's a bullshite question, I know.

My pops told me years ago that one day I would have a kid and I would see things differently. Pops is a smart ole boy.

No, what has happened is horrific but I will not forfeit my ability to protect my own children.

I might, but neither you nor I have the right to make that decision for someone else.

Now, if you want to ask a hard question and one you arguably have a moral obligation to do something about, ask yourself if your kids are more important than some kids in Pakistan? And once you've pondered that one a bit, ask yourself if killing one terrorist with a drone is worth all the kids we've killed at weddings, funerals, and birthday parties we killed to get at him?

I've long been bothered by these drone strikes and all the innocents we've killed and today's events kind of brought it home to me.

Yes. Without hesitation. As a father, I can't imagine the grief these parents are experiencing.

Very tough question, but I believe I am going to side with BP on this one.

Would you be willing for the United States to disband its military in order to bring back one Iraqi or Afghani child that was killed as a result of our military's actions in their countries?

I respect that.

I'm sure you've seen parents lose a child just like I have.

Yes, but that's not how life works. I cried today too, and my youngest is 23.

Just me? Maybe. Would I forfeit everyone's gun rights? Not a chance.

This.
I don't have children yet but the same applies to my wife/family. It sounds selfish and might be, but I'm not giving that right up for anything

Teague, just talking about you. Ones rights for the life of a child.

My answer is still yes. Absolutely yes. And I am the definition of a "gun guy". Like has been said, life ain't that way.

So because some piece of human feces commits evil acts, I should give up my right of self defense?
