I'm looking to get a new hand held GPS, have 10 year old eTrek. Looking for something that has map capibilites, input points by lat/lon prior to going out, ect. Something more advanced than what I have. Looking to spend $300-$500. What do you have and would you recommend it? TIA.

I just bought a Garmin Montana 650t. Havent used it yet but it is a nice unit. I got it from The GPS Store for $499. I think it usually runs about $600.

I have used one of those Garmin 62 series before and liked it. The menu was pretty easy to navigate and marking way points was easy. You can upload and download all of those too

Garmin 78 or 62. I have both, carry the 78 as my spare on boat, it floats which could be useful. 62 is smaller, as is screen. Both can be hooked to your computer and manage your waypoints.
Hot tip: Don't bring your units to your IT guy and have him set up your waypoint manager, bastard downloaded all my routes and waypoints.

I have the garmin oregon 450t. It is the only handheld gps I have ever had so I have nothing to compare it to. Pretty easy to use, also has touch screen.

I've been looking at these too. Looks like the best back for buck right now
