I think you are confusing two U.S. presidents. Zachary Taylor did own slaves, but he died so soon after becoming president he hardly had opportunity to address slavery or anything else. Andrew Jackson is the president who threatened South Carolina with
a drubbing in the 1830s -- over secession due to the tariff.

He is saying that dumbass South Carolinian's tested a Louisiana boy
He's talking about William T. Sherman, who was from Ohio. Before the war, he was president of the institution that became LSU because it was a military academy.

sherman literly HATED south carolina. he blamed south carolinians for fort sumpter and i think he lost some friends in battle there. shermans famous march to the sea included pretty much destoying as much of south carolina as he could.
actually, no one died in the Battle of Ft. Sumter. the Union just ran out of food and ammo. Sherman purposely passed over burning Charleston and headed for Columbia because that is where the Declaration of the Immediate Causes Which Induce and Justify the Secession of South Carolina from the Federal Union (ordinance of secession) was signed. they wanted to burn the church where the secession convention was held. when the troops got to the church (first baptist), the parishioners told the them they were at the wrong church and pointed them to the presbyterian church down the road. so the church where the secession convention was held is still here today, but the presbyterian church got burned.

i could not see what this had to do w/ lsu football. we play sc quite often. yes, clemson is in s.c. also.
so, please go into depth, why did you post the burning of sc on the tiger rant?
i'm just guessing that you were trying to inflame the board w/ something from 1865 when the american civil war was happening.
wtf is the connection? wtf does this have to do w/ football? wtf were you trying to say?
go ahead , i'm waiting, please explain what this possibly means.

Sherman was interested in LSU and assisted the university until he died.....which is a lot more than some of the confederates who have buildings named after them on campus did......
Really a shame there isn't more of a memorial to Sherman than one plaque.

I have no clue If Taylor was the president of LSU in 1860.
Ah, yeah, considering he'd been dead for about 10 years or so, I'd call it highly unlikely.

Two cannons from For Sumter are outside the ROTC building.

There's one imbedded in the sidewalk downtown, as well. At least there was at one time.

hell no we do not claim him.
Like hell we don't.
He was one of the best generals the US Army ever had.
Don't like it?
Take it up with a Sherman tank.

I'm going to spend a few minutes looking at tanks tomorrow....didn't see a Sherman last time I was there, but around my workplace, there is NO telling what might be stuck in a corner....
