They banned deer hunting with dogs where I grew up. To seperate the rabbit hunters, dogs could only be a certain number of inches tall to run rabbits. Guess who kept running? The same bunch that everyone had the problem with to begin with. The respectable guys followed the law and quit.
ETA: so it is comparable to outlawing guns to get rid of crime when the criminals dont abide by the law to begin with.

How often do you see deer that aren't going 90 to nothing? Have you ever tried to stand or stalk hunt when dogs are being run? Have you ever done so, when neighboring hunting clubs had dogs run under your stand?

Zero connection with peoples dogs running onto neighbors property

Agree with that also. That's why my solution keeps you hunting with dogs, and solves my problems.

I have never killed a deer that was running. Ever. And I've dog hunted my entire life. Never even shot at one running.

<-- not reading this whole thread, but will donate my $.02.
I think it is time for it to be banned. When it intrudes on the rights of others, it is time to stop. Every dog hunter knows that their dogs end up on someone else's property a good percentage of the time.
You can talk all you want about placing fines on those that break stricter dog hunting rules, but the wildlife agents are spread too thin as it is. No way to enforce new rules. I remember about two years ago driving on Highway 4 between Chatham and Columbia and seeing about twenty hunters lined up ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY, waiting for the dogs to run deer by them. Most of them had their shotguns/rifles laying on the ground as if they were simply taking in the view. Again, this was on a public highway with a good about of traffic. Not only was it brazen, it was an accident waiting to happen.

My problem with your solution is the "these are my deer" part.

I get it but I shouldnt have to pay for their stupidity. Same could be said for you zero connection for those who do it legally and respect surrounding hunters. I have no problem with enforcement but to all together ban it is a ridiculous solution

While they are on my property, they are. If they wander off property thats fine. They're free roaming. If they are run off by another clubs dogs. Problem. You're not getting that it seems, and want to offer absolutely no recourse for hunters like myself. That is why you have a growing number of hunters hating dog hunters and why you see less and less support of it.

as usual, everyone who dog hunts here always keep their dogs on their property and never disturbs other hunters. EVER.
Yes I have tried to shoot deer when running in front of dogs from my stand. It's very hard, but fun and exhilarating at the same moment. Does it ruin my hunting? No. I could have sat there all day waiting for a deer to walk by and never seen one. With dogs I know there are deer moving somewhere.
Maybe you should learn how to shoot a moving target

Idk what else to tell you. They just don't. Nobody hunts around me.

ah yes, another reason to hate dog hunters
wounded deer limping all over the woods with buck shot in their arse

And my solution would allow you to hunt that way. But if it did ruin a hunt or interfere with someone that didn't want that, they'd have a legal right to dispose of the animal.
